All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

You knew the Cubs bats would wake up eventually and did they ever today. But 2 out of 3 ain’t bad as they say. Bye Target Field until we are back next season. Absolutely love that park

I'm getting awful tired of Willi Castro. Not running out a grounder is unacceptable. Especially when he'd have been safe with even minimal effort and the guy behind him homered.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he tweaked something or thought he fouled it off his foot. No reason he wouldn't run there as it could have been a double play ball.

It's time to bring Eddie Julien back. Either for Correa or Wallner.
Why?

Especially when Keaschall is starting his rehab work now -

Keaschall has been out with a fractured wrist since April 25, but he's resumed swinging a bat and on Tuesday he took live batting practice against right-hander Zebby Matthews (who is also working his way back). When he's reinstated from the injured list, Keaschall should be an instant starter after a brief rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul.

The glimpse Twins fans got of the team's 2024 Minor League Player of the Year and former second-round draft choice was tantalizing, as Keaschall had seven hits in 19 at-bats, including three doubles, four runs, two RBIs and five stolen bases in five games. He reached base in 14 of 26 plate appearances.

According to MLB.com Twins reporter Matthew Leach, Keaschall could soon wind up in Florida for some extra work before starting a rehab assignment with the St. Paul Saints.

Short of a panoply of injuries, I don’t see Eddie being with the Big Club again.

Watching it back, the ball was nowhere near his foot. You can see him kind of shake his head in frustration seeing where the ball was hit. He wasn't injured. He just chose not to try.

Wallner is unplayable right now. Eddie can come up and DH 2-3 times per week. Larnach can play RF. Kersey can go when Keaschall comes back.

Agree Wallner is horrible. So many holes in his swing. Ball has to basically hit his bat gor him to hit anything.
Not sure Eddie is the answer though. Seen enough of him over the last few years to sour on him too.
Make Larnach, Buxton, Castro, Kiersey and Bader your outfield. Lewis, Correa, Lee, Keaschall, France and Clemens your infield.
If you want to replace Kiersey, give the big guy, Mcwhatever, a real chance as DH.

Edit: maybe even bring Martin back. Offers more versatility in field and hitting well at moment.

Wallner has much more upside than Julien and has regularly mashed Triple A pitching - so I don’t see what is accomplished by sending him down, as obviously he’s not seeing the quality of pitching he sees in the majors.

Larnach couldn’t hit off-speed stuff a couple of years ago to save his life, he had to learn on the job and that’s where Wallner is at this juncture in his career. He’s 27 and if he can’t do it this year, than hes going to be passed up soon by Rodriguez, Jenkins, etc…He’s got legit 30+HR ability, and that doesn’t just grow on 🌲.

Julien has done nothing at St. Paul to merit a call up and neither did you specify any accomplishments to warrant it. He has a pedestrian .260 average and still whiffing at a robust ~27% if the time.

I don’t buy that playing Waller 3-4 times a week is that big a drag on the offense. He’s never had a full big league season, so it’s time he gets a real shot this year, to see if he can legitimately be a contributor.

In much rather give those ABs to Wallner over anyone else right now.
