Regarding Baltimore specifically, I think it's a bit of Fools Gold, bolstered by a 3 game sweep over the White Sox. The math does not really work out for them, still 12 games under .500 and lots of games against the AL East.

While they have another series with the A's this weekend to inch them closer to the hunt, it's followed by a pretty rugged stretch against the Tigers-Angels-Rays-Yankees.

Their track record indicates they will be sellers at the Trade Deadline, IMO.

Certainly not overly optimistic but they can weather this for the regular season. But if they have to start Zebby or SWR in a playoff game...

It is a rather soft AL field they are currently competing with though for a Wild Card berth. Depends on Twins offensive production.

López had been exceptionally durable. Prior to this year, he had not missed a start since 2021, when he was still a member of the Miami Marlins. But he missed two starts due to a strained right hamstring in April, and now the team must prepare to do without him for a more extended period, though there is every expectation he will pitch again in 2025.

If they're going to make a semi-big move, I'd prefer it be a bat. Cedric Mullins maybe?

I'm curious to see if Luis Robert will get any interest and if so, how much the White Sox can get for him. Big talent but he's been awful this year (and last).

I'd love to buy low on Mullins, but unless there's an injury he would end up displacing Larnach or Wallner quite often.

Maybe a little but probably Bader more than the other guys. Bader would essentially play against lefties only if that happened. One of Larnach, Wallner, and Mullins could DH with Buxton in CF.

I expect Keashall back as well though. And Castro always finds a way in there somewhere. It would work only if Rocco is willing to keep Castro and Bader as bench players who start 1-2 games/week. Otherwise it would end up with a lot of Larnach/Wallner/Lee/Lewis sitting on the bench.

Multiple other teams have complained about their mound as well. Hard to say if it contributed to the injury but this whole situation is an embarrassment for MLB.
