All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

The lousy part is you can't blame this on injuries or being cheap. One of their best, most reliable players has absolutely fallen off a cliff from where he was last year.

We are playing exactly like last August and September. Haven't skipped a beat.

Difference is our starting pitching feels like doing much better, but doesn't seem to matter in the end

That doesn’t seem like it’s mathematically possible.
It is certainly possible if a team keeps stringing together long losing streaks with only an occasional win in between. The pattern below, for example, shows at least 6 instances of losing at least 13 of the last 15 games.

Lose 6 games
Win 1 game
Lose 6 games
Win 1 game
Lose 6 games

The ChiSox only won 41 total games in 2024. and had losing streaks of 21, 14, and 12.

A single 21 game losing streak would feature a minimum of 11 instances of losing at least 13 of the last 15 games.

It was a guffaw at their ineptitude - not a literal analysis!!
