All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

They have ~10K season tickets, so they'll likely get to at least a million in paid attendance. But 800K butts in seats might be about right.
They'll go well over a million. Even with the bad weather, they've averaged over 15K a game since the home opener and that puts them on pace for over 1.2 million. The weather itself will increase attendance, even if they continue to suck.

True. Not counting 2020-2022, their lowest total at Target Field was 1,951,000 last year. They haven't gone under 1.9 million at all since 2001. I think they're a lock to go under this year. Maybe 1.6 or so.

They last went under 1 million in 1983. Was that pre air conditioning in the Dome?

Air was installed in June of 83.

Different time back then. New ballpark and they still couldn't draw but it was common around baseball. 12 of 26 teams in 1983 averaged less than 20K. Last year there were only 4.

The last year at Metropolitan saw less than $500K all year averaging 7600 a game. Oof.

This offense is offensive-

3.29

That’s the Twins’ average runs per game, and put simply, it’s the biggest issue right now. The starters have found a groove, and many (though not all) of the relievers are pitching well. But seven months after a team-wide slump knocked the Twins out of what seemed to be a secure postseason spot, the recent losses and offensive struggles have at least some people in the clubhouse feeling a disconcerting sense of déjà vu. Minnesota scored 3.48 runs per game in September of last year.

3 and 2

The Twins have scored five or more runs six times in 17 games this year. In those six games, their two biggest stars, Byron Buxton and Correa, are 12-for-44 with 14 runs and eight RBIs. In the team’s other 11 games, the two linchpins have combined for three RBIs and two runs.

Indeed it was 1983. The weekend it was installed it was rather toasty/humid and our family didn't have central air yet. I went to the game on Saturday with a friends family.

Told my old man how nice it was, convinced him to take my brother and me the next day too.

Correa hurt. Wallner hurt. Jeffers finally has 3 hits.

Rocco tomorrow: It's Vazquez time! Take a seat Jeffers!

In a total coincidence, Miranda will now get Major League service time while on the minor league IL.

Yeah I get why they all changed to 42. It was just funny to see that they list each number change as a transaction.
I didn't mean to imply you were not aware, just thought it was great opportunity to post what I think is a really cool image of 2 of my Dad's (who grew up in Brooklyn) favorite players from his youth, Jackie & Pee Wee.

From the Boys of Summer though, pretty sure Duke was #1 in his book.

It is a funny transaction post. I thought all the teams started doing it when they retired #42 in the entire MLB (1997), but it did not really become a thing until the mid-2000s. Hats off to Griff Jr.

I've been tricked by this site before with eventual updates, but for now Jeffers appears to be penciled in, batting 5th and playing C.

It would be rater unique with the Day Game after Night Game angle as well. I thought him playing DH was more likely.

He hasn't played a lot recently and have the day off tomorrow. And Vazquez left the game early on Monday after getting hit in the hand.

Never seen this before.

Jax looked great in Spring Training too
Morneau, after Jax struck out the second hitter, commented on how the twins can't be counted out for the playoffs due to their great bullpen. I kind of muttered, "WTF"

He then called Jax one of the greatest relievers out there.

Then bam, rocket after rocket after rocket. The last out was a rope.

I just laughed. I'm not mocking Morneau, just laughing at it all.

Many analysists, experts, etc do consider one of the best relievers. For some reason it just isn't working so far.

Twins get an extra innings walkoff win in front of 14 fans.
