All Things 2025-26 Minnesota Wild Season Thread

Kick in the groin. The Russian better figure out if he wants to play hockey after the Olympic break. He’s been a passenger for about 3 weeks now. Constant turnovers leading to scoring chances. Him and Zuc are back to their passing game and giving up good opportunities for shots.

We probably didn't deserve the loser point, but it could've helped. The game certainly ended a lot closer than I thought it would after that 1st period where the Habs were skating circles around the Wild. Hopefully they can get some good rest before Hockey Day Minnesota

We have a game Thursday night vs Detroit. National tv game.

Wild down 2-1 after 2 periods, despite outshooting Detroit.

With Detroit coming off not just a back-to-back but an OT game last night, I'm laying some juice on the Wild on the ML at +190, banking on Detroit's legs to finally start giving in during the 3rd period.

LETS GO WILD!!

Kaprizov has awoken. 2 goals and an apple with goal number 2 coming in overtime

Wild lose on Minnesota Hockey Day 4-3 in overtime to Florida. Of course The RAT wins it for them

Wild win the OT opening draw and circle around with the puck for over two minutes, taking zero shots. Make a rule that you cannot retreat over the red line with the puck if you have entered the offensive zone with possession and never surrender possession. I am really tired of watching OT where players circle around all the way back to the defensive zone after having gained the offensive zone. Make it a violation and a face-off. Or, make it even worse - offending team must retreat behind the red line and other team is awarded the puck behind their own net.

I watch a ton of puck and overtime’s seem to have gotten back to the run and gun style it was when 3 on 3 first came along. Now believe me I’m not saying they are all like that as last night was a prime example. I could be totally wrong with that but from what I’ve witnessed if just seems it’s bit better this season

I actually agree with this - that it does seem to be teams are more willing to risk losing possession by taking shots this season. Last night was awful though. Wild tied for league lead with 20 OT games. We are 10-0-10 in them, but man.

They need to change the way they do the points. There are so many teams playing for OT now and it’s artificially driving up points. Would 100% be fine with getting rid of the loser points or making a rw worth more. Why we decide ot games should give out bonus points (3) versus regulation only being worth 2 is dumb.

Agreed. Giving one (1) point to the OT winner and nothing to the losing team seems like a logical approach to me. I'm sure there's a flaw to my logic, though, that I haven't thought of.

Minnesota Wild Open To Trading Jesper Wallstedt

January 26th, 2026 at 8:30pm CST • By Ethan Hetu

The Minnesota Wild “would be open to dealing” top young netminder Jesper Wallstedt “if the right deal comes along,” The Athletic’s Michael Russo reported today. On Sportsnet’s 32 Thoughts podcast today, Elliotte Friedman echoed Russo’s report, adding that Wild GM Bill Guerin may have already attempted to deal Wallstedt as part of his longstanding efforts to acquire a top-six center.

As part of Russo’s report, he indicated that “the right deal” to include Wallstedt, from the Wild’s perspective, would be one that brings a pivot capable of filling the No. 1 center role to Minnesota. The Wild are, according to Russo, “aggressively looking” to add a top-six center to their lineup.

The problem of shopping Wallstedt is now they also need a goalie coming back, because I have no faith in anyone down in Iowa. If they do trade him there better be another goalie coming our way

Wild spot the Hawks 3 goals but then come back and win in it 4-3 in a shootout.

The Wild having a hard time with Chicago really isn't that big of a surprise to me. The Wild had a hard time with the San Jose Sharks and what do the Blackhawks and Sharks have in common? Fast, skilled and young.

Minnesota isn't the most fleet of teams. It's another reason Quinn Hughes stands out so much, because he's a fast player on a slow-ish Wild team

In the last 16 games since Dec 27, six have been 4-3 OT wins/losses and one (Montreal) was 4-3 loss right at the end of the 3rd. Last 4 have all been 4-3 games

It sounds like Calgary is willing to take on some salary to make this happen. Not sure how serious the Wild are about picking him up.

I don't think I've ever seen only 4 SOG's at the 1/2 way point and be leading 2-0

Here we go again. Going down to the wire. 2-1 Wild with 5 minutes to go

Kaprizov seals it with an empty netter and Wild win it 4-1 and go 3-1 on homestand
