All Things 2025-26 Minnesota Twins Off-Season Thread

While your concern for the Díaz family finances is touching, it appears a bit misguided, as Edwin has already pocketed $87.5M in his career, prior to inking the Dodger 🐶 deal.

They won’t be flipping over the couch cushions anytime soon🤓
I hardly feel bad for them. Just think it's odd. And should be against the rules IMO.

I was joking 🥸
Just think it's odd..
They want a ring as @Ope3 said; my point was, you got that kind of cash, a deferment isn’t a big deal, like it would be for mere mortals.

The Dodger contract would go in my generational wealth account.

And should be against the rules IMO.
Agreed. They’re not breaking the rules, do it’s up to MLB to change it.

The Dodgers could afford it all without the deferred salaries. The players are losing money by deferring so much that far out.

The straight up salary sure, but not necessarily the Luxury Taxes & penalties (lose Draft picks) that comes with blowing past the threshold.

I don't follow the Wild, and pay even less attention being overseas. What are the thoughts on Leipold as an owner? If memory serves, he spent big a few years back on Parise and Suter (?). Does he open the pocketbook? Is he meddlesome? Too reticent to make management moves?

I don't know much about hockey either, but he does seem to be willing to spend. Weren't we told for months there were two limited partners? Did Leipold jump in at the end?

Leipold has quite history of overseeing NHL Teams that put up a decent fight while bowing out of the 1st Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

His Predators never got out of the 1st Round, going 0-3 while he owned them. With the Wild they have advanced to the 2nd Round twice, while failing to advance even that far 8 times.

That does not count the 2020 Covid Qualifying Round, which they also were defeated.

To his credit, the skating Ws have only missed the entire NHL Post Season twice since 2013.

Somehow I'm not convinced...

Regarding minority ownership, they are not in a position to dictate budget; that comes from the majority/controlling party, ergo the Pohlads.

This structure is not unique to the Twins, it’s how the professional leagues are structured in their charter to avoid ridiculous pissing contests. This is also how it functions in business, in my experience.

The minority partners are hopeful of a solid ROI with a sale, the Pohlads get to clean up the books (thus making it more attractive to suitors), and maybe have a good chunk of the needed operating capital for the upcoming season.

Additionally, both The Athletic and Twins’ MLB writer, had Falvey on the record saying the Twins payroll could go up to $115M from $95M, pre-Bell inking, which is $7M. So, they have ~$13M to shot up the bullpen.

I’m taking the Twins to snag the third WC and cause some good trouble in the playoffs; Buck & Lewis healthy for a season and arguably the best rotation 1-4 in the AL.

I’m a crazy eternal optimist so, All Aboard -

They shot up the bullpen at the last trading deadline.
Ah, your usual wish azz commentary, after misunderstanding a post- your ineptitude is breathtakingly consistent😎.

My post was dealing with 2026 season, not what happened previously. I cited two named sources regarding the Twins FA approach and both mentioned prior to the Bell signing that a RH first baseman would be inked🤓.

They’re certainly more knowledgeable than a no body like me, and quite possibly are than yourself, Champ🥴
