All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

6 games left before the break, pretty soft opponents. 4-2 is the absolute minimum record that should be expected.
Not a defender within 5 feet of any 3 point shooter tonight.

Just go by any perimeter defender and kick it out. Target practice for this schitty Memphis team.

Just embarrassing.

If the wolves do one thing well it’s keep you guessing. They can play so well one night and lay an absolute clunker the next night. Been like that for several years and it never changes. Players and coaches come and go and the teams flow stays the same.

When you look slow, when you can't defend, when you can't get anything going........I have an idea

Joan B and Dillingham can actually run and have young legs. Try something

The play of Conley, Bones, and Clark was hideous yet again. 39 minutes between these tree tonight and 3 total points. You almost have to laugh. Two of them can't defend a potted plant either.

I pretty much hate Finch.

Finch has been a problem since 2022 Memphis series

Wolves Emerge As Most Aggressive Western Conference Contender At Trade Deadline

Of the six teams at the top of the Western Conference standings, the Minnesota Timberwolves are believed to be the one who are most aggressively looking to make a major move ahead of the trade deadline. The Wolves have been linked to various upgrades in the backcourt all season as Rob Dillingham hasn't emerged the way they envisioned when they traded for him on draft night in 2024, plus they are in serious pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Wolves were similarly highly motivated to acquire Kevin Durant both at last year's trade deadline and again in June before he was dealt by the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets.

"The most aggressive team in the West right now is the Minnesota Timberwolves," said Brian Windhorst on Monday's episode of Get Up. "They are in the game for Giannis. I don't believe that their offers can outweigh the other offers and I'm not even sure that Giannis is getting traded before Thursday.

"The Timberwolves are being aggressive. If they don't make what I would call a Hail Mary Giannis deal, I think they are aggressively looking to upgrade their backcourt.

"And they have beaten the Thunder twice this year. So, they certainly, you know, are a team that would have some confidence against them. But when the Thunder at the top of their game, I'm not sure you're touching them."

Windhorst added that he doesn't anticipate the Thunder, Denver Nuggets or Los Angeles Lakers making a major transaction at the deadline. The San Antonio Spurs and Rockets, meanwhile, have not been linked with Antetokounmpo and are also expected to let the deadline pass without major activity.

As I've said, I really hope the wolves don't trade for Giannis if they have to give up Jaden.

The two best upgrades the wolves can make at the deadline would be to pull Conley from the rotation and give those minute back to DDV. His 3 pt shot was the last thing to go and it's gone. Secondly, they need help at guard. Bones is too inconsistent and Clark has regressed.

Even on the nights when Naz is shooting well, our bench situation is simply unsustainable if we want to get past the likes of OKC and DEN. I still give the Wolves the advantage in a 7-game series against the likes of SAS, HOU and LAL but the margins are getting slimmer every day.

Trading for Giannis would further decimate an already horsesh*t bench. It's a tough call to potentially walk away from a talent like Giannis but he's already 31, battling injuries the last couple of years and he's a FA after next season.

If the deal requires Randle/Naz, McDaniels and Beringer, I'm not convinced we'd even be a better team this year let alone moving forward. It sure seems like we're going to do something, though.

Finch was asked about the lack of effort and he basically said, "You've gotta ask them." You're supposed to be the boss. Act like it. If someone is obviously half-assing it, sit them down.

Finch is a poor leader. The one thing that has been consistent under Finch is the inconsistent play. That starts at the top.

You just can’t hate this team enough. Absolutely no leadership in place to correct things when they need to be corrected. Gonna play themselves into a playin game and then have to play OKC in the first round.

You can "sit them down" with college players, though you can't really do that anymore in the age of player free agency.

The NBA is a players' league. Coaches lead by persuasion, respect and relationships. Most of the enforcement is done by veteran players. Hard asses get fired or, in the case of PJ Carlissimo, choked out.

You're right. Naz got hot, Bones played well (probably because Finch couldn't bench him for Conley), but Ant took over. He needs help. Coaching or player. He needs help.
Hate to say it but not having Conley available for his usual twelve or so minutes was the difference between defeat and victory.

Conley was just waived.

Here we go.

I hope Finch plays our new guy over Conley...... LOL

Like I said if Conley became available he would be back… maybe Ingles has an extra towel that Conley can wear around his neck…
