All Things 2025-2026 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Pathetic loss. Zero defense once again.

Players will say we know we need to play defense but we didn't. Nothing changes as long as Finch is the coach. He has no control over these players.
They can't play defense. They have slow feet.

Our point guards are completely overmatched........one is washed up and the other is little

DDV tries but isn't overly quick

Gobert is 33..........his legs are gone. He doesn't jump anymore.

Naz is our only other big and is a horrific defender. Other teams hunt him.

Randle might play some D if it's a playoff game, but he's not really interested.

I'm not sure what Finch can do. They simply can't do it.

this is an impressive reaction here on GH for a team that also started 3-3 last year and is currently missing its, by far, best player as well as playing numerous guys about 50% more minutes than they have in their career or for us last year. This is the pain of Finch not playing some of these guys more last year (TSJ, Clark, Dilly) and needing to figure out what the rotation will be without NAW who played 25min/game for us last year while acknowledging Mike has gotten another year older and slower.

It's been 5 games y'all. 100% get people worrying and personally I don't think even if this team is fully healthy they're a title team (this is going to be OKCs year yet again unless someone major on that team gets hurt).

The clippers got blown out by the Jazz and GS. Houston is 2-2. The Magic, who some people liked as a sleeper pick in a weak east are 1-4, the Knicks are 2-2 and the Cavs are 2-2. We'll see where it goes and I hope they cut some bait, but this team will be fine as they get the rotations together and Ant comes back

I don't agree with most of this. They did it last year.

Their D is still top 10, if not top 5 when Rudy is on the court. All of the starters were a plus when on the court last night except Randle.

They showed they are capable of locking the opponent down in the 4th quarter again as LA only had 19 points in the 4th.

They just play zero defense until the 4th starts. That's far more of a coaching problem then a 'They simply can't do it' problem, because they show they can nearly every game.

Timberwolves’ frustration rises after loss to Lakers: ‘There’s no excuse’

Frustrations are running high in Minnesota, and they should be.

Five games into this season, the Timberwolves are getting cooked on a nightly basis by stars and role players alike. Their point guard situation is looking far more dire than initially believed. The continuity they believed would carry them to great heights this season has yet to pay dividends. Anthony Edwards or no Anthony Edwards, the Wolves have to start showing a pulse for more than six minutes in a game.

The latest pothole they stepped in came on Wednesday, when the Los Angeles Lakers, who were playing without seven players, including Luka Dončić and LeBron James, shot 54 percent from the field in a 116-115 victory that dropped Minnesota to 2-3 on the season.

“We know we’re a way better team than this,” Julius Randle said. “Everybody’s frustrated. I’m not going to sleep tonight. I know that for a fact. It’s frustrating, but we gotta figure it out.”

The Wolves are coming off of back-to-back runs to the Western Conference finals, playoff success that included a 4-1 wipeout of the Lakers in the first round last season. They have already lost to the same Lakers twice this season, giving up 49 to Dončić in Los Angeles last week and then watching Austin Reaves control the entire game on Wednesday with Deandre Ayton and Jake LaRavia as his two biggest weapons.

Howl Wolves!!
