MSU alum. Proud of those boys.Valdosta State (Ga.) defeated Minnesota State-Mankato today 35-21. They are now going to play for their fifth national title, having won previously in 2004, 2007, 2012 and 2018.
They will face the winner of the Ferris State (Mich.) Vs. Slippery Rock (Penn.) game. It would be Slippery Rock's first title game appearance while Ferris State is seeking its third national championship, having won in 2021 and 2022.
That is one word to describe those states. Not one I would use.Old west "cowboy" states.
Phantom hold or a real hold?Susquehanna scores TD on 4th & goal from the 1 yd line with 39 seconds left in game, goes up 24-21.
Bethel has ball at their own 27 yd line...
....PI on Susq gives Bethel ball at 45 yd line with 11 sec left.....
...Bethel completes pass to 30 yd line w/ 5 sec left. Then...Pass into end zone complete for apparent TD - BUT holding penalty on Bethel. Ref says Game over. Now a melee on field....
Ref says unsportsmanlike penalty on Bethel, but Bethel gets one more play from their own 45 yd line.....Bethel tries lots of laterals play but loses yard and game is finally over.
Wackiness.
I saw a hand tugging some jersey. It wasn't blatant, but it was enough.Phantom hold or a real hold?
How about God’s Country? That is one word to describe those states. Not one I would use.
If you interested in seeing the ending of the Bethel game. Seems like some close calls really helped out their opponent. You can see what they called a hold - it is a shame - had no impact on play. Looks like Bethel kid was helping out and fell down and hence the jersey grab. Most officials would have not called anything on the last play of the game. Real shame.
Ooh - big MIAC news -
according to Pat Reusse, Bethel's star Safety, Matt Jung, has entered the transfer portal. Reusse says Jung has an offer from Washington State, and "more than one" offer from MAC schools.
Reusse is pretty tied into the MIAC and Bethel, so I trust him on this report.
Jung is a heck of an athlete - so I don't think this is going to be a widespread trend - but it is something to see a D3 kid jumping up to D1 - and I assume there are NIL considerations.
Iowa State and Wisconsin have offered today.Ooh - big MIAC news -
