All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

Not how I expected this one to go. Kind of seems like the Lakers are going to go out with a whimper
They don’t have the personnel and JJ for some reason has decided he’s cool with us getting to dunk it on every other possession with the lineup he’s going with and finch is doubling down on playing the bigs

I don’t know if this is finch or the team but ffs how you’re not just driving the ball on every possession at this point is beyond me. They cannot guard you on the perimeter or in the paint with this lineup. Stop getting cute

I know people are watching the playoffs but how bad does the flopping and foul baiting have to be before the NBA cares? The foul on NAW on the LeBron pick was an absolute joke. The guy just threw his head back and fell down.

Allie LaForce should have a stool while she’s interviewing the players on the court. She might get a worker’s compensation claim for the kink in her neck.

I'm sure we all expected Rudy morphing into Wilt for a night, right?

I thought there were stretches in the second half where some of our guys got over anxious on offense but overall damn satisfying.

Love sending the Lakers to the golf course.

but this game does not inspire me going forward. We couldn't score with a team that has no defense on the inside, and putrid perimeter defense.

Pshaw. The Lakers were the 3 seed for a reason, and they added Luka late. They were good enough to win it all. No guarantees going forward, but this is an accomplishment.

I think that says a lot about the futility of the opponent, at least on the given night.
I couldn't believe how bad the Lakers were.

I'll take it.

By the way, "It's National Laker Day!" What happened, where are they going, etc.

That lakers team over a 7 game series was not going to win it all unless the bracket broke very favorably. OKC would’ve beat them 15+ each night. That’s no knock on the wolves as this is an accomplishment (it always is to win a playoff series), but this lakers team after its first 3 (maybe 2.5 depending on if reaves shows up) is not very good. They are built in a way you can win regular season games when the defensive intensity is lower, but playoff games when everyone is intense from the jump and playing defense kills them later in games because they have no depth

I get it if you’re saying the high seeded teams are the ones with the most realistic chances, but this was not a great lakers team. Some historically great players, but not a team

I'll take an ugly win over a well-played loss any time.
Now the question is would you rather have home court vs. Golden State and their championship pedigree or take on Houston, but have to win on the road to move on.
Houston would feel like a series from the 90s that I’d favor our experience. I think we’re better than golden state across the board outside curry going off and they don’t have enough bigs. I’d guess we’re favored against either one
