The crowd is rocking after that first set

It does seem like it's loud! He's an electric player, U.S. tennis needs him. Love seeing the home crowd embrace him like this. Hope he can pull this out.

It was sooo much fun and the guy next to me said the line was +950 for Tiago in straight sets.

He’s the next star and hi serve is lethal with Johnny Mac like touch and shotmaking skills at the net. His backhand needs to get better and when it does. He’ll be a regular in the second week of Slams.

You’ll get to see a ton of him in commercials ala Coco in the future.

Was simply brilliant 🎾

What a match by Tiafoe. If he plays Alcarez in the semis it will be an amazing match.

The quality of play in this Sinner/Alcarez match is absolutely unbelievable.

These two will battle for Slams for many many years.

Sinner with a strong run to finish the 2nd and start the 3rd. We'll see if Alcaraz can regroup.

3 straight 5 set wins for Alcarez and in each match he plays better and better. He’s the future of the sport.

Heck of a tournament for Tiafoe as well. Let’s hope he builds on this.

Go USA!!

Tiafoe was lucky to last that long. His 1st serve percentage was way too low. Someone like Djokovic would have destroyed him.

Alcarez seems so calm. Unfazed.

Yes he is! Youngest #1 in the history of the sport. His timing is amazing too as he'll just be coming into his prime as the Big 3 exit. He'll battle Novak for a few years still but Carlos is primed to win many Slams. He's a blast to watch.

I thought both he and Ruud commenting after the match on 9/11 and being in NYC on this milestone was very classy.

Go USA!!

His combination of speed and sheer power is quite something.

This day was inevitable but wish he could have had one more run. Alas, what a legend.

per Axios Sports:

Spain on top: Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal are the top two players in the ATP rankings, the first time ever that two non-Americans from the same country have held the top two spots.

Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff 1st 2 U.S. women in top 4 since '10

Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff are the first pair of U.S. women in the top four spots of the WTA rankings since sisters Serena and Venus Williams were up there a dozen years ago.

Pegula rose two places to a career-best No. 3 on Monday, a day after winning the biggest title of her career at the Guadalajara Open in Mexico.

Gauff, who lost in the quarterfinals at that tournament, moved up from No. 7 to No. 4.

The last time two Americans were that high in the women's tennis rankings was the week of Oct. 18, 2010, when Serena Williams was No. 2 and Venus Williams was No. 4. Each of the siblings already had been No. 1 before that.

Go Gophers!!
Why are the Gophers forfeiting the 5 and 6 singles (plus #3 doubles) every match? What happened to their roster?

I rarely follow Tennis and had to check on this statement. Gosh, it's true. Is it common to not finish a match against your opponent when you're down? I believe I saw 3 unfinished matches against Nebraska to go along with the forfeits. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Once the outcome of the match (4 points) is decided the remaining matches will end since they won’t affect the final match outcome. I think it is only in tournaments(preseason and ncaa tournament).
