It was a fun season but in the end you had to be blind to see this team was going nowhere in the playoffs with that putrid defense. And one can say it for the 63rd time or so. There’s always next year

You could say we were the best .500 team in NFL history.

The only thing I can think of is he didn’t realize it was 4th down. That’s not any better however.
Cousins played well this year and today’s loss wasn’t on him. However, the organization has to look at a situation where a QB is occupying WAYYY too much of the team salary and has zero chance of getting them to the Super Bowl. So deal the salary weight and re-form the team. Get some linemen, get some decent players and coaches on D. The roster is malformed and not built for success, similar to how KG ruined the Twolves and Mauer the Twins by not leaving enough salary room to pay other decent players back in the day.

Cousins either needs to take a paycut or he and the organization need to live with his greed and know they will never be good enough to win with him there.

Agreed. Hunter and shelley, and I guess dantzler are the only players worth keeping
The DL was awful. Hicks and kendrixks cant cover anybody

Peterson loves donatelli scheme because he doesnt have to cover anyone man to man because he can't anymore

You cant win with this defense. Its good we bowed out this early. You cant take a chance that Ed would be back next year.

They would have gotten killed by SF next year anyways. But the last thing we needed was a run to NFC championship game and keep Ed
Next year. Next week. What's the difference?

Time to tear it down and start all over again. Trade the "stars".

O’Connell trying to take the blame for the last drive by saying he has to make sure Kirk understands the ball needs to go past the sticks. I mean…

Cousins would do even better if we our interior lineman could actually block.

But i agree this team has too many holes to pay that much to Kirk.

Spielman screwed us for long term success

No one's trading for our "stars" but major cuts/restructuring are needed. Cook. Bradbury, Kendricks, Harrison Smith, Peterson, Hicks should all be gone. Re-set. Get younger.

In reality the team wasn’t much better than the prior year, except they were generally luckier and won the close games that they lost the year before. Certainly they had almost no chance to get by both the Niners and Eagles, both teams who notably have built strong, balanced rosters.

yeah. yikes. Well you get what you pay for, and apparently $30M a year doesn’t buy you brains.

Time to at least try to draft Cousins successor again in the 3rd/4th round. But not TM.

No second round pick and a defense in shambles.

They have to draft defense.

Why on God's green earth would Cousins take a pay cut when he just took this team, with a new HC and DC, to an NFC North title and 13 wins and is likely to finish his time with the Vikings leading every single statistical category in franchise history?

he won’t, because he is all about himself and that is why he and his Vikings have zero chance to ever win a Super Bowl.

A quick internet search showed that as of 9/1/22, he was the 10th highest paid QB in the NFL, and that's before guys like Herbert and Burrow get paid.

You want him to be paid like the 20th highest paid QB? WTF?

A word of advice, as they always say, never count someone else's money.
