All the subbing on D yesterday??

Did anyone else notice that guys were getting pulled on D left and right yesterday? It didn't seem to be rotations for "breaks" here and there; people were going out and not returning. Does anyone happen to know if the following were injury related or strictly based on performance? The list I noticed:

Rallis-->Hill (this was early in the game)
Someone (can't remember who got pulled)-->Grant
Manuel-->Lewis
Vereen-->Henderson (also, maybe I missed it, but I didn't see Carter at all)

Also did not see Carter at all.

Heads were rolling like crazy in the USC game.
