OL Matt Leidner, Minnesota: Pressed into action at center because of an injury, Leidner made his first career start in the National Funding Holiday Bowl and played extremely well. Oh, and he got to snap the ball to his older brother, Mitch.

LB Blake Cashman, Minnesota: The defensive MVP of the National Funding Holiday Bowl, Cashman had 12 tackles and a sack. Not bad for a walk-on.

DB Damarius Travis, Minnesota: With the defensive backfield decimated by suspensions, Travis helped lead a strong effort against Washington State’s high-powered passing game in a surprising 17-12 win.
