Not sure how many of you bought beer last week - but there was only one line, for the cans...the rest of the lines were bare, you could just walk right up to them!

The good news is - alcohol sales actually increased:

TCF Bank Stadium - Alcohol Gross Sales

Sept. 8 vs. New Hampshire $111,118
Sept. 15 vs. Western Michigan $127,657

This is the best case scenario - no lines, and more money for the U! Guessing there were more in the premium areas.

This should almost pay for our Kansas Fried Chicken coach to back out of a game. Money down the toilet. No more money for the U. Maturi's golden parachute and this add up to a nice down payment on a basketball practice facility.

per Doogie:

The Gophers made just over $131,000 from beer and wine sales at last Saturday's Homecoming game against Northwestern. The night game against Syracuse is the biggest gross revenue generator in that regard, bringing in nearly $165,000.

Go Gophers!!

Dear Doogie

They may have had revenue/gross sales of 131k, but I doubt they 'made' 131 k. The money that goes in the till is not all profit.

Kansas Fried Chicken?

As big of a Gopher fan as you are, you should be able to come up with something better than that.

Anyone have the net figure? (ex product cost and payout to third party for sales at least.. we can come up with reasonable estimates for other staffing, tent purchase/rentals/etc)

The real question is whether letting people legally throw down beers has helped ticket sales, which is more difficult to quantify... would be curious if anything has happened on the premium sales front / feedback received by the U from premo-premium customers or targets...

Another question I would have is does the increase in alcohol sales correspond to the revenue from other concessions holding flat? Meaning, are people spending $15 on beer when previously they would have spent the same amount of money on nacho's, hot dog and pop?

I was just going to reply the same type of response. What money gets spent on beer doesn't get spent on other things.

I wouldn't spend a nickel on food at TCF, but I have gone from one coke (heavy on the ice) to adding one beer as well. Counting my guest = $15 or so extra a game being spent.

I believe it was stated somewhere previously the U got one-third of the gross sales.

As in:
1/3 expenses
1/3 third party
1/3 The U

I recall reading that somewhere on GH too 19, but I also seem to recall that whoever said that indicated that it was a just a SWAG. (Scientific Wild Assed Guess... now #53.)

My guess would be a good portion of the Alcohol sales is "new money." If it was the same ol, same ol', the U wouldn't have pushed the state governing boards so hard for it.

I agree. If the fan wants an adult beverage and it isn't sold at TCF, that fan is gonna sneak it in. The fan wanting to buy a beer isn't gonna sneak in a beverage and then go get a push-up and cotton candy anyway.

The real question is, how many more suites and club seats were sold because alcohol is offered in the DQ club and in the suites?

Here is the latest alcohol sales update:

TCF Bank Stadium - 2012 Gross Alcohol Sales
Sept. 8 vs. New Hampshire $111,118
Sept. 15 vs. Western Michigan $127,657
Sept. 22 vs. Syracuse $164,927.22
Oct. 13 vs. Northwestern $131,481.53
Oct. 27 vs. Purdue $130,969.60

So Purdue was the lowest attendance, but the 3rd highest beer sales and we were up big early. I wonder what impact scoring early has on beer sales.

I think it also helped that it was a 2:30 game...some people don't feel like drinking at 11am, I am not one of them.

I bought my first two TCF Bank Stadium beers on Saturday. I didn't really need a beer, but I enjoyed the opportunity to stretch my legs, walk all the way to the other side of the stadium, buy the beer at halftime, and purposely take the walk way above the second deck all the way back to "my" area of the stadium. It was the first time I was up high above the second deck since the "gameday preview party" back in 2009. It was a great experience and one that I will probably regularly work into my gameday routine. The view from the top of the second deck is OUTSTANDING. Oh, and I drank my beer without incident. :)

I just always wonder of dpodoll has bought 1 yet.

Personally, I wonder what impact beer sales have on scoring later..................
