As if there were ever any doubt that this guy is certifiable.

I am not a professional psychologist, but my amateur diagnosis is narcissistic personality disorder with a side of martyr complex thrown in for good measure.

AJ Barker tweets 5 page letter, states liberation, no longer has suicidal tho...

I'm gonna need this translated into English. I don't speak shrink.

I did catch two things:

1. He is not remorseful for how he left the team. He said the way he expressed himself was a valid option.

2. Pretty sure he is an atheist. Why is he mentioning Jesus? Don't atheists reject the idea that Jesus walked the earth?

My thoughts are summed up in this cartoon. (Click for larger image)

Yes. Some will point out that there is no actual physical evidence that this individual ever existed. All you have are second or third hand accounts decades after this individual existed.

Some would point to the Gospels as pretty good primary sources.

AJ...yikes.

My convictions lead me to want to reply in detail, but I'll let this suffice.

AJ Barker, we all cheered for you. You had a good thing going for a while.

The overwhelming secular historical consensus is that a messianic claimant named Yeshua ben Yosef did indeed exist and was crucified in the first century CE. Obviously, one doesn't need to believe he was the Son of God in order to think that. Claiming that no such person existed is largely the domain of internet cranks and the dumber/more blinkered members of the New Atheist movement.

I could go into detail on this, but that's as much as I'll say.

It seemed to me that it was obvious there was more going on between AJ's ears when he left than just being upset at coach Kill. He basically has verified he has been suffering through depression. While I don't necessarily understand every point in his message, I really hope that his "liberation" does start leading him to beating depression (not sure if that's the best term, but hopefully the intent is clear) and being able to move on.

Also, I don't know tht anyone ever said young people cannot have wisdom. It's just that the older you get, the more you know how much you don't know and didn't know at a young age. Many people have found pieces of wisdom at a young age. It's just that as you get older you realize you weren't as wise as you thought you were.

I wonder in 10 - 20 years how wise AJ will think he was over the last couple years...

You read it here first: A.J. Barker will be elected Minnesota governor in 2038. The electorate will eat it up.

I didn't read the entirety of the rambling but I will say one thing. As someone who suffered from a relatively severe form of depression/anxiety for a period in my life that forced me to make decisions that were right for my well being at the time but looking back it pains me I had to make those decisions, I really hope he's able to overcome if it is indeed a clinical depression episode.

This sort of thing bubbles up in strange ways for people and they often try to find scapegoats to make themselves feel better/stronger. I certainly did. I got help, both in terms of counseling and medication and I can say I feel a million times better. Just wish I could have a do-over and I'm sure AJ Barker feels the same way.

That's certainly a better essay than the one the North Carolina basketball player wrote about Rosa Parks.

"I have 'no validation' as my foundation."

Look everyone! Look how huge my lack of need for validation is! RT this to show everyone you know how I don't need validation! Yup, NO VALIDATION, and I shall shout it from the mountain tops!

Wait. What? AJ is the reason he left and not Kill. Wow. Never saw that coming.

It is clear to me that A.J. has some serous mental health issues. His meltdown last year was probably a real symptom of his condition. Its easy to make fun of the guy, but people should reel it in a bit - this guy has a real problem and is genuinely hurting. Good luck and get well, A.J.

+1 Well said.

Why do some of you fools even give this dude a forum? Which is exactly what he wants. #clueless

Dude needs some help. Hope he gets it, and soon. Those are the incoherent rambling a of a troubled man.

The main thing that atheists "reject" is the son of God stuff. Atheists all know that Joseph Smith existed, it's the super natural stuff that they question.

Some of them assert that there is not any evidence that Jesus existed, that's completely different than saying "he didn't exist". There is virtually no evidence that 99.9999999% of the people at that time existed, they still existed.

This couldn't be further from the truth. It doesn't matter and we can have a discussion about this in PM as to not hijack the thread.

Royce White and AJ Barker both reappearing at the top of GH on the same day? What a pair of jackassholes.

A beat-off Badger fan that trolls Gopher message boards pretending to be Gopher fan was a clinical nut-case at one point in his life? I'm shocked...... Re-up the meds you tool
