I have had it with the so called experts, talking about how hard it will be to attack Air Force's 3-4 defense, because you don't see it that often. Get a clue people! The 3-4 defense is part of our defensive scheme even if it's not our base defense. The offense has been working against it all summer. Being part of a defensive scheme also means that it's not a problem for the scout team to emulate. Preparing for the Air Force triple option is a legitimate concern, preparing for their 3-4,defense is not.

I'm concerned about *ANYTHING* that might present even a small increased Challenge for our already "Less Then Stellar" Offense.......

The issue isn't that the team isn't familiar with the 3-4. Of course the defense has some 3-4/3-3-5 looks but the issue is the number of reps, or lack thereof, they've had against the 3-4. Reading defenses, coverage schemes and making blitz pickups are all different against the 3-4 and even if you know how to handle it theoretically when you're not used to doing it routinely in game situations it does present challenges.

For instance the offensive line has to all recognize the pressure as it develops and adjust the same way. If one guy reads the blitz incorrectly protection breaks down.

Weber looked pretty poor last week against a pretty vanilla front. Adding any level of further complexity is an issue.

Then add the fact that this is no longer the o-line's first time playing together.... and the fact that a home crowd will be much less noisy and hostile....

This is why its great that we play progressively more difficult teams before the big ten schedule.... so that we can experience increasingly more challenging scenarios before it really, really starts to matter.

Im not saying you are saying anything otherwise, but it is perfect for this football team to face these challenges at this point in the season. If we can slowly build ourselves to the point where we can play with Cal at home by week three... we should be able (in theory) to put away NW on the road and wisky at home.

Speaking of that, now that the stadium is not an issue, the top priority in terms of recruiting is beating our rivals!!! That's right, it's time to focus even more on those two games a year, you know which ones i speak of. Then priority #2 is being competitive each year in the other two trophy games.... trophy games are an exciting thing to mention to a potential recruit, but not if that hardware is constantly in other school's athletic offices.

We better get used to it because we're going to see a 3-4 defense in back to back weeks.

I feel really good about this game for the following reasons.
1. Weber plays badly in one game a year. He played badly last week.
2. We know what their going to do.
3. Defense up the middle, four deep at DT, and Campbell behind them.
4 AF not having a pass rush and a thin secondary.

Regarding #2: Everybody always knows what AFA is going to do. It rarely makes a difference. We know we're going to run, you know we're going to run, we run, and you can't stop us.

On #3: Air Force had 34 sacks last year, good for #14 in the nation.

Here's to a well played game with the good guys winning...

It rarely makes a difference? Play in a real conference against real teams.

Prepare to be crushed by the all-powerful Minnesota Golden Gophers. If you think we can't stop you, you are greatly mistaken.

Here's to a well played game by the GOPHERS with the GOPHERS winning by a large margin.

Seriously? We have to play 3 Top 25 teams to get through our conference schedule. Not so for the all-powerful gophers

Yes, seriously. Now go away stinky Falcon.

3 Top 25 teams, big deal. We have 3 TOP TEN teams on the schedule. Plus the rest of the Big 10 which is considerably stronger than the middle/lower of your conference.

Please come back after you have lost by 20+ points, then talk some smack.

I'm hoping he doesn't seriously think that's an argument point. :|
