How it will all go for MG remains to be seen...
He hasn't always been durable or lucky with regard to the possiblity of injury playing qb. He actually hasn't played qb for more than a play here and a play there in a very long time. I hope he has a FANTASTIC career as the Gopher QB for the 2011 and 2012 seasons...but...as we must always recall, we won't know until it is all happening. And THAT is why we must play the games.
Unfortuantely, in real life: the qb has to SHOW UP on Game Day Saturdays and the coach has to give his qb the ball, the green light and the the keys to the offensive machine.
Old farts like you and I "old" have to show up too. We have to show up at the games to see what we shall see and to learn what we will surely HAVE to learn about this incredible opportunity that MG will have in 2011. The jury is out. People like you have set the bar very high and very specfically for what MG will HAVE to accomplish to be considered for better treatment than people like YOU gave our former qb. YOU can be what ever kind of judge you want to try to be. But, expect some contrast to your point of view if you think you are qualified to judge ANYONE. Especially college kids. Personally, I save my criticism for coaches and administrators...because they get paid a heck of a lot of money to TAKE the heat the the paying customers just might want to give them. That includes prexys and ad's and coaches. They take home the big pay check...they get to call the shots...so THEY wear the target and THEY have to take the heat.
I will be pulling for MG. He seems like a great young man. I KNOW he will be doing his very best and I am sure he will be leaving it all out on the field...just the same way that Adam Weber always did during his Gopher career.
I will be extremely upset IF I think MG and anyone else who may play the qb position at any time in 2011 and beyond for the Gophers is treated as poorly by any of the "so called" home fans. And, if need be, I will let them know that they are being horrible people and fans. So, treat our qb with respect and treat our qb DECENTLY. That is my expectation of Golden Gopher Football Fans.
Good luck and best wishes in 2011 and beyond to MG and all of our Gopher quarterbacks!
You can do what ever you wish "old." But, I will be very critical of you IF you don't treat our qb's decently THIS time around. Push back at me if you want: I would welcome that....BUT, do remember...these are college kids and they will be giving it ALL they have got. They don't need some old farts being unreasonably critical of them and what they are trying to do. IF you don't like something that they do and the coach keeps putting them out on the field, realize that coach must see something you DO NOT SEE and that the coach totally disagrees with your assessment. Go ahead and rip the coach a new one. Coaches get paid a LOT of money to take anything you can throw at them. So, bring it at the coach and you can go ahead and bring it at me if you want..."old." I'm betting you don't have too much left in you though..."old."
