Aaron Philo Commits!!!!

I didn't feel great about this recruitment once uncle eddie told us PJ compared it to a marriage.
50% of marriages these days lead to divorce......I'm wondering what the % is of kids backing out of their 100% commitments to colleges???? Probably getting closer every year.....

Reminds me of when Al Bundy was looking at his notice that his driver's license expired: "why can't a marriage license do that?"

Honestly though, we'd probably be better off if marriage had sunsets in them and needed to be renewed. Most would probably just ride it out versus fight in divorce court.

Ok, back to Mr. Philo....

The irony is God doesn't make decisions for people. The duality of free will and God is in control is an absolute mind bender, but that hasn't stopped people from engaging in this kind of circular reasoning before.

God must be too busy ensuring a 17 year old kid attends the right college for football and that is why He doesn't have time to intervene on more pressing things like wars, dictators and famine that have real life and death consequences for LOTS of people. But hey, throwing a perfect spiral 50 yards is super important, too <insert sarcasm>.

Yep, makes total sense.
I am an observant Christian who will never win the piety sweepstakes and I totally agree with you here. I'm all for people expressing their faith in whatever way they feel appropriate, but it all gets a bit rich these days. To me, it's like the verse from Matthew that God takes note of every sparrow that falls. True, but I don't think God pushed the sparrow out of the nest. The sparrow fell on its own.

I just wish Philo the best. He is taking this decision seriously and he should do that. If in the end he didn't think this was the best fit for him, I totally respect that decision however he came to it.

I would guess the percentage that stay committed is probably still pretty high but I put very little stock in verbal commitments. It is interesting to look up their profiles and see who might be coming in but there is no reason to get very invested in the player.

His three receivers were the best players on the field.
So I guess PJ should have gone after his receivers because it sounds like they are better than anyone currently in the receiving room. Maybe that pissed Philo off and told PJ see ya!

It is better to find out now than have him signed and then lose him. Jacob Knuth leaving the team stings.

New QB we seem to be after it Ethan Grunkemeyer out of Ohio, has offers from Indiana and Northwestern among others.

here is another kid we offered in late January. So we will interesting where we go with the position

Do you disagree? Providing, of course, you saw the full replay of that game.
I think you misunderstood my post. By "snarky remark without thinking first" I was referring to Gophers7NatTitlesBadgers0's comment that he made to you, which was "That's hilarious!"

Sorry I misunderstood. Although I would take no offense at G7Natty's comment, having no idea how he meant it.

They were all seniors and committed.
In all seriousness, PJ wouldn't have offered Aaron if he didn't believe he could succeed at a P5 program that runs an RPO offense.
He isn't concerned that Aaron's receivers were propping up his recruiting status and is confident that his receivers are every bit as capable of helping Aaron succeed.

I did not say or mean to imply Philo was not a great recruit or that he was a QB propped up by his receivers. He made throws to the corner of the end zone reminiscent of Tanner 2019 or the one to Jackson last December vs Cuze.

Philo will be a great college QB for someone. I wish he had stayed with us but I understand his wanting to fasttrack.

Hard to say if Philo will be great or not. But to be honest he might be too highly rated to come here and sit. It’ll be tough in this day and age to bring in a highly sought prospect with a young talent basically cemented into the spot for three years.

I have no idea as to their status relative to the other players on the field for that game, as I haven't watched and never will, but to say that a WR corps on a HS team is better than a high major college WR corps is not only dumb, but also stupid.

Who said the WR corps on that high school team was better than a high major college WR corps?

You did, right here:

Did you see the film of his Georgia title game? A lot of schools might be concerned they will never be able to put receivers out there with him who are as good as his high school receivers.

You did, right here:
Yep, looks like I did. Might have meant it a little bit in fun but you are right, dumb comment.

However, you missed an incredible Georgie championship game. D1 recruits all over the field, both teams. Three D1 recruit receivers working with Philo.

And this was the Georgia smallest school championship.

The bolded reminds me of someone. I can't quite put my finger on who. Wait a minute. Oh yeah, me.
