A Tribute to ChemEgopher

This guy did one of the sweetest things I have ever seen last night. It was one hour before tip when the students were filling up the student section. There was a badger fan that was somehow in the fifth row of the section and the barnyard board would to nothing to make the guy move, so he took matter into his own hands. After about 5 minutes of everyone yelling at this fat wisconsin kid. ChemEgopher grabs a piece of pizza and laser throws it at this kid. It hit him in the eye and splattered all over his fat face. It pretty much set the tone for the student section, and I think it was one of the greatest acts of support for gopher sports that I have seen. Also one of the funniest things i have ever seen. I later heard this kid went to the U. I have absolutely zero respect for anyone who does that.

Yea, I was sitting right above the maint student section enterance (behind the yellow hard hats) and we saw him down in the rampway talking to someone, his right eye was all puffy and red. I had no idea pizza hit him, but that makes it all the better.

Reminds me of the Red Sox fan who threw his pizza at anothe Red Sox fan. At least Gopher fans are smart enough to go for the other teams' fans.

I'm not one to normally advocate violence, but he brought it on himself, and fully deserved it.

The Alan Alda usher was not very sympathetic either.

As I've posted in other threads, those Badgers fan (the kids flanking the kid in red with gray shirts on were also Badger fans - and did not cheer at all) got their seats because kids in Gopher Sports Marketing, who got into the arena before any other fans were allowed in, saved those spots. I had been in line since 4 p.m., and because of the f_cked up way they handle letting kids in, I was somehow like the 35th person through the gates. When I got in, three folks wearing GSM lanyards were holding about 8 seats. I was willing to respect the idea of saving seats, as I've done it before, so I stepped into the row behind me. Some 20 minutes later, those Badger fans roll in and take the saved spots. Kids that work for the U of M were basically screwing students who waited 2 1/2 hours to get in the door by saving spots for Badger fans. That's the only reason they had such good seats. Without GSM helping out the cause, there wouldn't have been a single speck of red in the first 15 rows. When I b_tched at the GSM kid, he told me to "chill out" because "we're cheering for the same team." What a load of sh_t.

GSM can suck a fat one.

ugly fat pizza face badger was in line early, so at least he legitimately earned his pizza thrashing.

He can't complain...you got to know the risks when you invade the opponents student section.

I raise a glass in honor of ChemEgopher. Well done.

Haha, that is hilarious. When I got in there it was right after that, and I heard one security guard say to another, "Dont give them anymore pizza".....I had no idea what had transpired. But that is awesome and funny.

On the whole, there wasnt that much red in the student section compared to past years. Let's do what we can to keep this going, along with sweeping becky.

Also, parkinglot, youre right the system is f'd up and there should be no reason that the market dept should save seats like that. They already bogart the other side of the student section with their "friends of the dept section" . Besides the occasional appearance of former players ( my friend had his picture taken with John Thomas), and gopher football players (which is fine) it is just a bunch of people that just sit on their hands.

Funniest post ever!!!!!!! Some red will always get in, that's gonna happen. But the Gopher marketing kids who are allowed inside the arena before everyone else and saved 8 PRIME seats for their Badger friends due to their "inside access"??? NOT acceptable.

I already posted this in the other thread, but here it is again: "Walk yourselves down to the marketing dpt. today and talk to the guy in charge about it. Get the names of the kids who did it. If the guy in charge is a moron and won't stop it, go over his head and hell, talk to Tubby or something! Call Sid during his radio show or during Tubby's radio show and rat this turd department out on the air, my boys!"

I humbly accept everyone's approval of my actions. I only did what I thought any other true Gopher fan would have done in that situation.

Right up there with the pilot, Sully. Thank you sir **awards ChemE the congressional medal of honor**

If that fat kid actually stood in line for 2 hours like everyone else, he's just a dipstick with pizza on his face, which is still what he deserved.

But the ones who REALLY should have gotten it are the Badger goons who DIDN'T stand in line for 2 hours and had their gopher marketing buddies save them seats. How is that not against department policy???

There really is no policy or enforcement for seating. You could stand in line all day or get there ten minutes before the doors open, and you still have the same chance of getting a front row seat, regardless of what kind of fan you are. It would be nice if the barnyard board would do something about this. Isnt that their job?

None of them were in line for two hours. The fat kid in red that got pegged with the pizza (as well as about 50 additional projectiles, including an empty pizza box, during the game) was in the group of Badger fans that got the free pass from the losers in Gopher Sports Marketing that saved them spots.

I've been rallying for changes in this policy for YEARS. In 05-06, it didn't matter. I remember showing up when doors opened for a game and being the only one in the student section an hour before tip. The situation with the line and how they let kids in is officially out of control. I was about the 7th person there yesterday, and somehow ended up in the 7th row when the fray at the front of the line, the pat-downs, the ticket-punching and the seat-saving all settled out. How do I show up with one group of dudes playing cards in front of me and end up with 50 kids ahead of me? I need sharper elbows and a weaker conscience apparently.

Fat kid was in line the whole time. Doesn't mean his seat wasn't saved, but he was there in line, and I want those 2 hours of my life back.

Now HOLD ON a second...
...Does this kid have season tickets in that spot? Or did he buy it off of a "Gopher fan" for the game? If it WAS his seat, then no matter how much any of us don't like it, he has the right to be there, and if so I do feel just a bit bad for the kid. I know I wore Gopher gear to Penn State bball games and had the kids there treated me like crap (I got a little ribbing, but nothing serious), I'd have been upset. I bought the tickets. And I cheered for PSU in all other games.

Now, if he didn't belong in that seat, that's an entirely different story and I condone it. Or if he was being a total ass (?). It appears that insiders gave him the seat... Which is the truth?

First of all go work ChemEGopher. If the kid didn't expect to be harassed he was an idiot. Here I'm going to reference Purdue sorry but in the Paint Crew(Purdue's verison of the Barnyard) they won't even let kids wearing red sit in the student section.

As for the cutting and overall loser-ness of cutting people who were there before you here is a nice link to the Paint Crew's website. We have GA seats and everything goes very smoothly. Hopefully you can have good officer team and come up with a good policy to stop the cutting/saving seats crap.

He bought it off Gopher fans, as they were with him in line. He was also a complete idiot. His presence didn't get him the pizza, his actions did.

There is no such thing as "his seat" in the student section. It's all benches and General Admission. No ticket promises any seat.

The reason the situation escalated was because I turned around and saw the kid eating OUR pizza which is meant for GOPHER FANS. That was what set me off.

He bought it off Gopher fans, as they were with him in line.

He probably dropped nice $$$ for that ticket, too. And why wouldn't you be willing to pay big $$$, if you've got marketing buddies on the "inside" saving you a prime seat in the first few rows???

Pretty sure he got it for free from some not too bright students.

your an idiot!

What an interesting thread. A fan(s) throws something at a kid. Feel really good about doing it, other fans proclaims his actions as great. Ok. Not that I don't find it mildly amusing as well but if the fan happened to be injured by the other fans actions and that fan would be specifically identified, I know a few attorneys that would have a field day with this and would be incredulous at the stupidity of said fans to go on an internet messageboard and brag about it afterwards.

Ahhh .. being young and stupid again.

....

It was pizza to the face. And we're talking about attorneys??

Geez what the heck is wrong with this country? It appalls me that every little thing can be made into a lawsuit these days.

That's why when we get older we have a tendency to not do stupid things such as this. Being made responsible for your actions can really be a bitch sometimes.

Asshole! Asshole! Asshole!

I have to jump on board here..........

admitting that I come in with gray hair and all. There is nothing funny or appropriate about throwing pizza in someone's face.

The litmus test for me is, "Would your parents approve of your actions."

I did stupid things when I was younger, and now ChemEGopher can make the same claim.
