Your taking up blocks and kicking a$$ at clogging things up at the nose guard position did not go unnoticed yesterday in fact it set the tone for the defensive line after the first series.
Very impressed, for how you stepped it up yesterday. May you have many more games like it and beat the Buckeyes.

Pretty pumped we'll have this kid for 3 more years.

Not to mention Mr Richardson sack fumble on Rudock the Iowa QB, to me that was a real turning point in the football game that let Iowa know, that this game was over.
Anytime you turn over the QB causing a sack fumble is a huge play in my book. Kudos Mr Richardson and thank you for being a Gopher.

He was living in that Iowa backfield. Very impressive.

Can't wait to see how good these three true freshman on the D line can get as they mature.

This fella is a special player. Thrown into the fire as a true freshman........against guys who have been playing CFB for several years.......and he isn't just holding his own.........he's outplaying them.

I'd hate to think where we'd be without him. He should be a contender for big ten freshman of the year.

Last statement: +8.

Richardson was great. Another shout out to Gaelin Elmore....another true freshman playing DL in the Big Ten. This guy was playing TE a few days before our first game this season. These 2 are going to be fun to watch....

Don't forget about Andrew Stelter another true Freshman who's been playing well at DT. Gary Moore played extended snaps yesterday as well & should be a very good player. May as well throw in Everett Williams, Jonathan Celestin & Craig James. Hell, as long as we're getting excited about the young guys on D, why not throw in De'Niro Laster, Ray Dixon & Duke McGhee, who're all red shirt Freshmen & will cycle through with the true Freshmen for 3 more years. Exciting stuff.

Heard an Iowa fan yesterday say number 96 looks like a fire hydrant out there. Short, but hard to move and does his job well! Couldn't have said it better myself! Kid's a beast!

I, along with a few others here on GH, have referred to him as a fire hydrant.

Remember, it's not the dog in the fight that's important. It's the fight in the dog that matters.

Richardson is the fire hydrant who bites dogs. The bigger the dog, the bigger the bite.

I remember reading a few scouting reports when he committed that said he would have a lot more offers if he were just a little taller. He has all the talent, just doesn't "fit" the preferred measurables. Good for Kill and staff to recognize his talent. Just wait for him to get a full year in the weight room.

Agree. I understand the appeal of a taller DT to knock down passes, but for as seldom as that happens, I'd think the ability to clog up the line and create penetration is so much more valuable. In addition, I wonder if his size is actually harder for a 6'5" OL to handle (at least they are not used to it). Hopefully we can find another diamond in the rough like Richardson.

I seem to remember a lot of rips on this guy when he was recruited...too short, too fat, too slow.

Well then.

That award was a J.T. Barrett lock a month ago.

Richardson is certainly up there though. Think about what our d-line would look like without him. It's rare to find a player that can step up and play like an upperclassman as a true freshman. And this isn't a three win team. We are contending. Richardson is a major part of that. I don't think anyone could have predicted his role on this years team.

Good point about Barrett. Yeah.....I'm not sure that anyone could compete with what he's done for the Bucks.
