I found this research interesting...these numbers are from ESPN article regarding 2009 AD revenues. Besides the revenue differences from ticket sales etc...look how far we are behind other big ten schools in donations.

These are schools they had numbers for:

OSU $27 mil
IA $21 Mil
MSU $19 mil
Wiscy $18 mil
NE $16 mil
MI $15 mil
ILL $14 mil
Purdue 410 mil
Ind $10 mil
MN $5 mil

These numbers include seat donations as well as direct giving. FYI - Oklahoma State was #1 at $54 mil.

Oklahoma St. has T. Boone Pickens.

I think winning and giving is very much a chicken and egg scenario. SW Minnesota has wind power, maybe T. Boone will give to us.
Plus remember that is just one year. A couple of years before that most donors who give bigger dollar amounts to Athletics were hit pretty hard to give to the stadium fund so it isn't that surprising to see a down tick after a major capitol campaign is finished.

The moment the football team starts wining on a regular basis is the same moment the deep pockets of boosters and donations will show up.

+1.

Unrelated, but I took the Kill 'Em All record cover and made it a Minnesota version, taking out the sledgehammer and adding Paul Bunyan's Ax. I Photoshopped a bunch of them that I'm going to add to a post. I'll be out of town for a couple days, but I'll put 'em up when I get back.

Do you want that one for your avatar?
