It would be a dream come true if Kiper fell off the face of the Earth, but he makes a very good living being a dink who is wrong more often than weather people so don't hold your breath.
 

The thing is, nobody is good at this. Every staff in the league passes on HoFers and takes guys who wash out in a couple of years. It's especially bad for QBs. Predicting who will succeed in the pros in any sport is just a really tough exercise.

Yup. College to NFL QB predictability seems to be a skill that nobody has.

It’s not really any different than grading high school prospects but on a smaller scale. Passing up prospects with generational talent, eg Moss or AP, or Rodgers (for in some cases legit character concerns) and then rationalizing why the guy they took instead is better would be examples of bad takes. Quarterback in particular is difficult to translate but passing on Rodgers because he was cocky or whatever reason was given was pretty dumb. Clearly he was smart, confident, and competent at quarterbacking. OTOH drafting guys in the first round that were mediocre or maybe slightly above average in college (oh, like Ponder) isn’t likely to work out.

I'll go on record and say that the 2 best QBs from this draft will end up being Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield. The only caveat being that some team has to give Jackson a chance at QB. For me, the big thing that NFL teams do wrong is looking for some sort of "ideal" QB and then drafting according to that. Successful QBs in the NFL vary so much in size and skillset that I think they really need to get out of the mode of just drafting 6'4" guys with big arms.

I will probably end up being wrong because everyone ends up being wrong.
 

Todd McShay and Merrill Hodge say Brian Brohm (whom the Packers drafted in the second round) will be better than Aaron Rodgers with some scorching hot takes during the 2008 draft. Brohm played in 3 NFL games, passing for 252 yards. Rodgers already has his bust made for Canton as one of the greatest QBs of all time.
