6-3 including 4-2 in B1G! I got a kick out of Ryan Burns' "Go find joy" rant!

If we end up 8-4, it will be the most Iowa like 8-4 we've ever seen here. Lose total overall yardage, but win anyway with low mistakes and winning in the crucial moments, all while driving casual fans nuts! Do I think we can keep this up year-after-year? No. I'll take it for one year though.

Good analysis. Yes, quite Hawk-like indeed...and yes they grumble too (see you later Brian) but still go to the bowls to watch the Defense, Special Teams, waterboys, and whatever offense that might accidentally unfold at a neutral field. It is the I-O-W-A way under Ferentz.

I haven’t gotten to this episode yet - but I mostly listen to Ryan Burns simply because there are so few professional alternatives. He just truly comes off as smug so often to my ears that it detracts from the show.

I hear him with JG on the KFAN Gophers Weekly on Sunday mornings after a game. I can see how he might come across as smug but running GI...off which GH spun originally...gives a little credibility to do so.

So not challenging the point but just noting the back and forth between those two is some high quality H2O on the Gophers those Sunday mornings during the season.

This tends to be my view. But the corollary to not apologizing for how we won against weak opponents is that I am also not willing to get too excited about a strong showing in a loss to a good opponent. If a win is a win, then a loss is a loss.
Yeah...unless its a weird situation (maybe half the team is hurt or we are playing a National Title team) we are beyond most moral victories.

Non Conference (overall records)
Buffalo 5-4
NW State 1-8

Total 6-12

Big Ten (Big Ten records)
Rutgers 1-5
Nebraska 3-3
Purdue 0-6
MI State 0-6

Total 4-20

I mean...if you can't get excited about wins against opponents like this...then clearly you are not a fan!! We are clearly building a program to be respected!! I mean heck...we came within two touchdowns of that 5-4 powerhouse of the west...Cal!

Revel in your love for mediocrity!

A few teams can go that way. Here's IOWA:

Non Conference (overall records)
Albany 1-8
UMass 0-8

1-16

Big Ten (Big Ten records)
Rutgers 1-5
Wisconsin 0-5
PSU 0-5
Minn 4-2

Total: 5-17 (MN worth 80% of the Big 10 wins in that stat)

Are people upset about it? I think it’s more “well, they escaped with one they probably shouldn’t have and oh yeah, Iowa still kicked their butts” so maybe the enthusiasm level has gone down a notch. Only the biggest homers fail to
accept what’s happened and let people have their feelings about this iteration of the team. If people stop caring completely then that’s a problem.
Who here is saying people cant be upset about Iowa? I would guess most of us are...

But that shoukdnt get in the way of enjoying a victory a week later is what we are saying. Be happy for the win and annoyed by the previous loss. We can do both.

It waant that long ago that a game like Iowa would have spiraled the season.

I’m too lazy to look but were Deion’s teams ever good? As I recall it he gained a lot of attention for his transfer portal activity and landing some highly rated players. I don’t hear much about him anymore but I believe his star is fading fast.
They improved (and had 2 star players) so it looked better than it was. But like most of us said once his kid was gone the team became Colorado again only with a mediocre coach and motivator.

IMO Fleck is a great coach, we all know its $ keeping us from ascending, but he makes no excuses

I can see us easily ending with 8 wins, I still think we should have beat CAL though, even more disappointing to me than the Iowa thrashing, Iowa is a good team (better than us), CAL was not (imo)
I think PJ is a great head coach when it comes to recruiting, developing, etc., but his in game decisions and inability to level up as a play caller and with in game decisions is what keeps us from ascending. We got out-coached against Purdue and MSU but luckily have better players who were able to put it together.

Not that long ago Gopher Fans were literally begging for stuff like this. (Not the Iowa Loss obviously)

So Iowa is reveling in their mediocrity?

You appear “revel in your love” of your own personal mediocrity. Please explain to other GHers how it works. Daily routine, etc. As much info as possible. Thanks!

Or, alternate suggestion, he could just go back to posting on the message board of whatever team he actually follows. :)

It’s crazy how the teams with wins usually have beaten the teams with losses

I bet the teams with losses usually have played teams with wins

I’m not sure if you’re disagreeing with me or Some Guy…
