By my count it looks like Josh Huff was 5th Decommit (Did I miss any?):

5. Josh Huff (TCU)
4. Antoine Lewis (Purdue)
3. Kip Smith (UCLA)
2. Jabari Price (North Carolina)
1. Konrad Zagzebski (Wisconsin)

Whenever someone starts taking visits after they committed to us, they end up decommiting. Our class was starting to look pretty good until the last wave of defections. Ugh!

I try not to get too worked up until signed paperwork is submitted. These are 17-18 year old kids that can and will change their minds up until the last minute. Look at Cooper and Carter.

Wait, I thought this thread was going to be about Royce White!

As long as you're looking, how many commits do the Gophers have that were originally committed elsewhere?

We can't fire Brew because the commits will decommit. Oh wait, they already have.

Wow guys, first year of following college football? This happens every year, that is why you don't count your chickens before February signing day.

I don't think there's significantly more decommits this year than past years, it's just that they came in a bunch this year after a disappointing end to the season, so the situation has been greatly magnified.

Ethan Grant decommitted from Oregon to TCU as well. Looks like TCU is gathering a pretty good RB recruiting class.

Huff is the only one that really bothers me, but he had a previous de-commit, so there's a bit of a pattern there. Hard to count Lewis, because he supposedly had his offer pulled on our end.

The other three are all in the place that they preferred so I don't see that as being a negative against us. In the case of Smith, he was just waiting on the UCLA offer.

I was thinking Sam McGuffie transfered to TCU as well but it's actually Rice. I was like "dang they're going to be able to run the wishbone with all those good recruits and players."

I'd say the only legitimate decommit is Kip Smith.

-Price and Huff were known to be soft committments.

-We pulled our offer from Lewis.

-Zag always wanted to go to Wisconsin.

Please don't get too excited about decommits. For some of these guys the recruiting process becomes a game. Wait to hear from the school(s) you really want, don't get the attention from them you thought you might, commit to someone who offers, wait to see if the commit renews interest from other sources, realize it didn't, decommit and commit with yet another school, wait to see if the new commit renews interest from other sources, realize it didn't, decommit, oh for God's sake now I'm on the carousel.

And Kip Smith de-committed right after getting a UCLA offer, which was what he was supposedly waiting for all along.

I'm not excited about this at all. I got barked at about a month ago when there was confusion about Robdonovan Lewis waiting a bit too long to accept an offer and I stated I felt a bit sorry for these kids.

This is a tough and often life-defining decision for these kids. Sure, they're getting a free education and an opportunity to play big-time college football, but when you're getting letters and phone calls and all sorts of unsolicited advice from everyone and their mother, it's got to be more than a bit nerve-wracking.

It hurts when you see a good player decide to go elsewhere, but I tend to think, as long as there are no hi-jinks by opponents involved, "Good for the kid. He found the right place for himself."

Typical repsonse when a player decommits from your program. Lewis did not have his offer pulled by Brewster. You couldn't be more wrong.

Gee Boiler, what do you say when they de-commit from Purdue? The kid woke up? Take your trash somewhere else.

This is out of character for me, because I try to be polite.

A few decommits is expected. If we continue to see more decommits this year, one has to wonder how much of it is related to Brewster 'testing the waters' -- especially after Huff's comments. For now, nothing to worry about.

We all picked a sport to follow where to paraphrase Tony Dungy " we're all waiting on the decisions of 17 and 18 year olds".

Kind of obvious why Dungy hasn't coached in college for almost 20 years. Why are we here?

Was it pulled for another player (in which case, where's the commit?) or due to a poor senior year/injury?

We had 2 DBs commit on 10/30, which filled out our class for DBs. Lewis called to commit shortly after (the next day or two) and was told we didn't have a scholarship left for another DB. The 2 players committing just before Lewis' call were Christyn Lewis (JC) and Allen Veazie. Both of these players are currently unranked by Rivals whereas RobDonovan Lewis is rate 3 stars.

The Lewis they are talking about is Antoine Lewis, who committed during the summer, if not before. I don't think his offer would be pulled by Brewster, and RobDonovan now might still have a spot on this team.

My mistake. Just too many Lewis' to think about. I agree that a spot may have opened up for RobDonovan if he's still interested.

Well James Green is 6th decommit.

Nice going Brew! You pad your recruiting stats with 4 stars who have trouble getting qualified. You are not a great recruiter despite your own hype. You haven't even proven that you can outrecruit Mason.

Are you that ignorant, stupid, or just insane. I'm picking 2 at the moment....

Are you that ignorant of reality? Mason got guys who could play at a high level--and Brew gets guys who have more stars, but haven't shown yet they can play.
