One thing I already love about Pitino is this: He said he wants his 1-4 to all be able to knock down the three. Bo Ryan has had this figured out for about 20 years. Athleticism does nothing for you (as we have well seen) when you are well defnded. You have to be able to shoot. While Hollins and Hollins were relentlessly working the ball around the perimeter, trying to find a good time to dump it in the post, other Big Ten G's were trying to get down the pipe, score or kick out to a bevy of shooters. The results were painfully obvious. I can't wait to see an un-neutered Andre Hollins.

Why hasn't he recruited all shooters than? 2 of our guard recruits are poor shooters.

Because he couldn't convince the NCAA and 99% of the players that had already signed their letters of intent elsewhere to come here?

Why couldn't Tubby find but one shooter in 6 years?

There are plenty of shooters with limited athleticism out there. He chose athletes over shooters.

I'm not saying he won't recruit that way in the future, but people keep saying he "gets it", when he's done nothing yet to show that.

This is like the ninth thread with this concept that we will be a better shooting team next year.

Really? In May there are plenty of Big Ten caliber shooters waiting for a scholarship offer? It's not only who he recruits, it's the philosophy that allows your best G's to shoot, not be paralyzed figuring out how they will feed their "long athletic types" in the post. He saw a need for a quick PG, so he got one. Coleman left so he got a much better shooting SG who wouldn't limit future scholarships. Guy has been at UL and UF, so if he thinks McNeil is worthy of a 4 year scholarship, who am I to argue.

At least we won't have three starters who can't even make a jumper.

Maybe...what someone isn't getting is the fact we didn't have a point guard. Yes, we had people to play the position but we had nobody
to drive and kick or dish or finish. Nobody who could handle the ball...at least not as a strength. Nobody who could lead an offense...no floor general.
No quarterback. We recruited some people with that in mind. Russdiculous can't shoot either. And might not be an NBA player but he got Louisville to the finals. Then Seva was a really, really nice guard. Together they were national champs. I've seen a minute highlight on each of our three new guards, but conceivably they bring that style to our team. No, two of them aren't shooters but they fill voids in what we didn't have. Like everyone is saying...we are recruiting in May out necessity and that's a handicap.

What team have you been watching for six years?

As long as we're not subb-ing in four reserve bricklayers at the 14:39 mark of the first half, I'll be sitting in my renewed season seat, smiling.

Dre is going to be the Pitino main project player. If Dre wants the NBA for himself as much as Pitino wants it for him, we will see significant skill enhancements coming.

Agreed.

I also think that Austin is going to have a huge year.

Hopefully the Austin brothers get in great running shape this summer, so they won't need to come out much in Pitino's zone. I really think this team is going to be as good as these two carry you. I don't anticipate a ton of balance scoring.
