4 big ten winning seasons in 6 years

2019 11-2 (6-3)
2020 3-4 (3-4)
2021 9-4 (6-3)
2022 9-4 (5-4)
2023 6-7 (3-6)
2024 7-5 (5-4)

Last time the gophers had winning big ten seasons in 4/6 years was:
1965-1970
It really is more like 4 out of 5 since 2020 was an incomplete season and it is entirely possible that .500 could have happened with a full schedule.

Frustrating that the program hasn't had more seasons like 2019 but the level of sustained success under Fleck has been impressive.

If you keep being solid eventually you break through.

4-1 against Big 10 Teams located outside the Eastern Time Zone this season.

1-4 against P4 Teams located in the Eastern Time Zone.

Get to a point where we dominate the 🐖 and the 🪓 games - that should be the goal IMO. Get to that point and then build from there.

Yeah that sucks.
2-2 vs 1988 big ten, 3-2 vs new editions

A relatively good season for a team that (I think) actually underperformed in multiple games. This team has the potential to compete with anyone IMO but has been inconsistent.
I think the team towards the end of the season (other than that just weirdly bad performance at Rutgers) I agree.

Getting Perich in there I think was a gamechanger. It's fun seeing someone with his level of ability in our uniform.

Would love to see the late season form Gophers play UNC and Iowa over. Can probably say things like that every season, just saying

So the last five years is basically been Cal Stoll with easier schedules. For us to crown the guy he needs to eliminate the Rutgers and Iowa type failures. If he can figure that out, build the guy statue until then we are still talking about whether we’re going to the Pinstripe Bowl. Everyone’s looks to throw out the Covid year if so, I’m throwing out 2019 because most of the stars he inherited.

Are you going to be okay?

I’m great, but your irrational exuberance relative to our current status is silly. Do the math on Stoll and are we not talking about potentially the Pinstripe Bowl?

Exuberance? I’m not sure I’d say I’m exuberant. This was a B or B- season and we left a lot on the table.

You should find a new team. You have bad aura and are annoying.

I’m honest and realistic relative to PJ’s performance, IMO. You did some math here and pointed something out. I did some math and pointed something else out as a counterpoint. I consistently give him all the credit in the world for 90% of his work here. I think he’s been decidedly below average in game days we saw improvement this year which should bring us hope for the future. Folks are happy right now as am I because we just finished up one of his top five games since he’s been here but that doesn’t overshadow the fact that we’re still talking about shitty bowl games for the fifth year in a row.

Happy with the way the team developed over the course of the year. We have some easier schedules coming up. Maybe PJ and co can pull an upset or 2 and make some noise.

I’ve never seen someone so upset by other people not being upset.

Get some help

Not the least bit upset your reactions kind of make LOL. We are averagie now. I think we can do better.

Oh my gosh you think the same thing as me but you are upset I’m not angry

Seriously I think you can do better if you get the help you need. You’re giving off serial killer vibes

To state my feelings another way, the Gophs were good enough this year to cause James Franklin to choose a risky fake punt from PSU's own 34-yard line while up 1 point at the end of that game instead of kicking back to the Gopher offense. I don't think he makes that decision against a lesser team.

The Goph's were literally a very small handful of plays away from playing on NYD. Watching the Gophs swing the axe is a nice consolation.

Oh, no fell a bit off the deep end there pal we transition from PJ’s relative to success to serial killer status. Nobody else cares to read this dog shit so I’ll stop back-and-forth.and you get back to your very mediocre life.

here is more of you giving off sane vibes

Meanwhile…Rutgers reached 4 conference wins for the first time since joining the B10.

Difference between the Cal Stoll years and the PJ Fleck years is that PJ is putting lots of guys into the NFL, the team's academic performances are phenomenal and PJ hasn't lost a single bowl game.

Also, PJ took over a program with relatively little success in his lifetime, whereas Stoll took over for a Natl Title and Rose Bowl winning coach. Minnesota was still considered a blue blood at that time. If you switched Stoll and Fleck, Fleck would have made us competitive with UM/OSU, while Stoll would have us doing worse than Rutgers. Stoll was an alum with some minor success with small programs. He was the beginning of the end for Gopher Gridiron Greatness. He wasn't a bad coach, but a great coach would have done much more and got us back on track. Instead he was just successful enough to convince the admin to bring in another alum with minor success at small programs, and the cumulative long term effect of less than typical pre-mid 60s recruiting led to the U becoming a has been program.

Now I'm not saying PJ was much more than Stoll or Salem were, but PJ was THE hot up and coming coach, whereas neither Salem or Stoll came into the job with as much buzz, so I'm only arguing that Fleck, with UMn still being seen as a fb blue blood in the late 60s, could have done really well recruiting. Stoll, having to deal with Fleck's situation, would have struggled mightily.

Correct

First I would say tough to compare eras. Stoll didn’t get as many non conference games more nor opportunities for being just over .500

But at the same time. Stoll took over a team that was less than 15 years from a national championship and multiple big ten championships. It’s like when Callahan took over Nebraska vs when Rhule did + two decades
