A few Gopher guarantee games.

Fighting Sioux NET #271, Western Illinois #364, UTSA #344. WIU & UTSA had worst NET ranking in their respective conferences.

First weekend (Nov. 6-8) is still open.

NDSU: First game of the season
W Ill: Tune up before Charleston Classic
UTSA: Tune up during Holidays/Resuming Big 10 play

Please build a respectable schedule around this garbage. Please.

Are Western Illinois and Southern the two home games we play as part of the Charleston event? If so can't really control that. UND came on strong late, but I'm guessing they took some hits the portal. UTSA was bad but at least they're a bad team from a decent league so hopefully they don't completely suck. We all know a certain private school a cross town will be one of the other five games. Hopefully there's a decent road game, and a P4/ big East team and maybe a Mtn West, Mizzou Valley or A 10 type coming in as well.

Not certain, but don't think so. At most only one would be a non-bracketed Charleston game. A lot of multi-team events are now only two games with no home games.
 





We need the next Joe Esposito. He was DBO for Tubby and was a magician at building the non-con schedule. Still had a lot of buy games, but most of the teams finished at or near the top of their conferences, and ended up being SOS positives.

With 76 teams in the tournament, the need for the Espositos of the world has declined. At this stage it’s not as much about NET rankings as just seeing some decent basketball in the non conference season. What is public now is beyond awful.

After winning the Twin Cities Championship, we should be primed for our first true road game.

I assume SMU will be after the two Big 10 games. Keep the quality opponent momentum rolling and pay off the Gopher faithful with a legit Power 4 at the Barn on December 15th/16th.

Throw in one more Quad 4 over the holidays (Dec 21/22) to play with lineups and get the reserves some confidence.

That's the wish list.

But I think, realistically, we get one more good opponent (the start of a home-and-home) between Nov 6th and Nov 12th, and then two more Quad 4s. I could live with that. I'm still hoping the last two Charleston entries feature solid teams that we get to play.

Not garbage. Decent players, not as good as others, but, nowhere near garbage. Respect!
