2026 Winter Olympics

What’s the point of the pool play for hockey if everyone makes the playoffs? Top 4 teams get a bye but still not a big advantage.

Should be two pools of 6 teams. Play 5 games in pool play and then take the top 2 teams in each pool for a 4 team playoffs.

I think the point is because these teams are thrown together within hours of the Opening Ceremony, they want to use the Pool Play games as friendlies/warm ups until the knock out rounds when the real fun begins.

Also ensures TV/Streaming inventory.

Peacock sucks.

I've had no problems with Peacock other than the stupid 15 second ad that loads every time you launch a stream.

They are doing wonderful for an entity that lost in the neighborhood on $ 1.1 Billion in 2025.

That’s a great point actually. Hadn’t thought of that.

Men's Curling seems to have a small chance to proceed.
They are 4-5
Beat Norway and Germany; lost to Italy (2-1)

Norway 4-4 and if they lose to #2 Canada
Beat Italy, lost to USA and Germany (1-2)

Italy 4-4 and if they lose to #1 Switzerland
Beat USA, lost to Norway and Germany (1-2)

Germany 3-5 and if they beat China
Beat Norway and Italy, lost to USA (1-2)

If Germany loses ugh it gets complicated.

USA Hockey 0-6-2 against Sweden in the Olympics since the 1960 gold medal team.

Yeah same. I would've rather had Knies or Caufield over Miller. Plus you'd like to get some of these guys experience now as by next Olympics but I'm sure they wanted to give Nelson, Miller, Trochek and likely Guetzel all one last go.

The next USA Olympic team could literally be five from the f**king 2023 Gopher team
:banghead:

Canada and Czechs tied at 2 halfway through the third

Binnington once again proves he can rise to the occasion because he was tested in that third more than once and in overtime

Binner is fine, just think the issues he's about as likely to give you an absolute clunker as he is to steal you one.

But he’s yet to do that from Four Nations to now
he's played 3 total knockout games. They're 2-1. He was very good against the US, pretty good against Denmark in the one they lost, and pretty average today.

Again I don't think he's this big red flag others do. He's won really big games with at times really big performances, but I think it's people trying to pick one weakness on a SUPER loaded Canadian team that may be the best collection of talent we've ever seen. He really should only have to play average and I'd take Canada to beat us unless Helly goes crazy (playoff Helly has just as many red flags as Binner ever could)

Goalie is basically always going to be a weak spot for a team like that. I have that feeling in my stomach that that was the chance to get them out and it's gold coming for them now.

I agree
