2026 NHL Playoffs Thread

We now who drives the Avs machine, Mr Makar. Vegas comes back in the third and takes it 3-1. First time in 46 games the Avs lose after leading after 2 periods

There was just nothing the Wild could do. The Avs are just such an unstoppable force. If I have to watch Vegas in the cup again while the Wild are at Maynard’s I’m gonna be sick. What an absolute sell job the Wild did to lose game 5.

It must have been exciting. I fell asleep though late in the 2nd.
That is quite fitting for the game. Mess and PK were trying to sell how much of a treat it was, and I love hard hitting, tight hockey. But this was long stretches of a pair of teams just not being able to string things together for different reasons

Still no official word on either Mark Stone or Cale Makar playing (or VGK's 3rd pair blue-liner Jeremy Lauzon for that matter). I'd be shocked if Stone plays the rest of the playoffs, despite the fact that he's been skating full-go in practice. I think he's done.

Some speculation here on Colorado possibly going 11-7, which I guess is a possibility

EDIT: Colorado a fairly healthy favorite tonight, at The Fortress, with COL a -145 favorite, and the VGK a +120 underdog. Not surprising, Colorado will be in full desperation mode.

Thought about sprinkling a bet on COL scoring in the first 10 mins, and/or the 1st period

Holy shit. Didn't expect this. Not sure how healthy he'll be or how much he'll play but always, ALWAYS good to have the Captain on the ice

Makar back and Avs up 2-0 7 minutes in

Vegas thought they had a goal was ruled no goal Avs score 30 seconds later. 3-0

Man that was close. I really thought it was a goal. They didn’t specify but I assume the call was high stick rather than off the glove.

Inconclusive to overturn, which is lol given you can watch it directly off the tape on the shaft

And just like that it’s 3-2 4 minutes in the second

And we are tied. That dreaded 3 goal lead gone

Vegas wins it 5-3 and now have a commanding 3 games to none lead. Did not see this coming

Why was it a surprise? Just a few posts earlier you stated he was skating "full go in practices".

Holy shit. That might have been one of the greatest games I've ever been to, outside of maybe being at the Bank for the Mpls Miracle. I'm hoarse from cheering my ass off. That had to be crushing for the Avs

I wonder if MacKinnon plays Game 4. He took that puck really hard off the shin and really was a non-factor in the 3rd; they put him in for a few o-zone chances and the 6-on-5 at the end and he clearly couldn't move.

Just because everything I had heard was that Stone has bigger issues than they are really letting on. I'm still surprised he played, but he made a mark for sure. The guy just sees everything so incredibly well. Looks slow as f*ck, but just sees so many angles before they happen, reads the game like few I have seen, not to mention what he means to the team in the locker room.

Outside of the knee for Mac. Only way he plays is if it was a nerve impingement leading to numbness as that’ll get better. He is currently a negative and putting him out there on the PP was a borderline fireable idiotic move from Bednar on a gotta have it power play imo. Let Vegas shade off him entirely and hound him on zone entries. If you have no wheels and it’s what drives your game, you have to take the option away from the guy when they’re a team leader. No chance he was going to say no I can’t try

You can never count out the Pres Trophy club with that kind of firepower but it's hard to see any team coming back from that kind of back-breaking result last night. This clip is just awesome. MacKinnon is just such an unlikeable player.

Carolina-Montreal Game 3, going to Overtime.

No surprise here. Not sure if I care a lot about who wins this series.

Montreal once again with only 12 shots on net in 73 minutes of hockey. Carolina wins in overtime 3-2. Montreal now 2-5 at home

That goes ditto for yours for me. I hope the Canadian’s win the cup, screw the two western teams left, hate them both.

Sounds like Colorado is making a change in goal.

I have to wonder if some combination of MacKinnon, Makar and/or Nicushkin are going to miss tonight's game. MacKinnon sure took a nasty shot above the knee, by the end of the game, SOME people said Makar could barely lift his stick to waist high, and Nicushkin missed the entire 3rd period for who knows what.

Torts says that there will be no changes to the Vegas lineup from last game.
