2025 Transfer Portal Watch

How do we even know whether or not this is a better roster? We could probably look back at the spring threads every year and optimistic viewpoints reign. Not intended to be a shot at your post here. Optimism and looking forward to the next year is part of being a fan. But it's impossible to really to know how these pieces will fit together. Less doubt (for me) on whether or not the system/coach will be improved.
No one here will consider me an optimist, but I think just on paper we are better off now than we were last year. First, we have a coach with a well defined system. Second, he has assembled a roster with guys slightly bigger and much quicker. That’s a step forward. Downside is no reliable starting center and no absolutely go to scorer we had with Garcia.

But I do think we’re ahead of the curve from last year. Hard to know how that translates into wins when the whole league is at virtually 100% roster turnover.

I know this much- I saw the clips of last year's squad in the spring and thought we were in trouble. The video on these guys is far better and I believe they rate higher. Niko isn't done and I have to believe that one guy who is perhaps higher on the pay scale than any we have so far.

Looks like he ended the year well

And, as Marge Gunderson once said: "looks like he's a big fella."

Seriously, though, these are good numbers for a freshman center even in a lower league and he shoots free throws at a much better rate than we're used to lately from centers. He also doesn't need to fill out like many freshmen centers do.
