2025 Transfer Portal Watch

So is he a candidate for a secondary scoring role? 6th man or second rotation scorer?

Or just a ball stopping habit that needs to be considered?
I honestly don't know, I only watched his highlights. But this jumped out at me in his stats and it is one thing I will keep an eye on. I assumed you were lumping him in with your "good passing forwards" statement and I was wondering if you had seen more than what was in the stats?

We’ve now been in contact with TWO Division 2 guards and one has been on campus.

It can’t be that hard to sell the gophers to a D2 guard.. can it?

Doogie saying it was just south of 2.5 million.....I don't believe it.

I guess if it's a 2 year "contract".....maybe.
I'm guessing Kyan called Niko and said Carolina is offering me this and Niko told him, that's a great offer, we can't match it and the visit got cancelled. I hope we close the deal with Enis tomorrow.

I haven't fact checked Gopher Crew, but if this is true, this is good news. Keep in mind that last year's roster was ranked top 60 by KenPom pre-season, which has usually been a solid metric. The Gophs are currently in the mix for some star players, and there may be more coming out. At very minimum, Niko will be able to round out the roster with more solid additions.

How many more wins will better coaching attribute to?

That's exactly the point. Last year's team should have been NIT material. In fairness, Mike Mitchell's injury derailed them early, and he never regained form. But they showed what they were capable of by beating some good teams. With more consistency, who knows? Coaching matters.

My assessment is that how they round out the roster with those last six scholarships will be the difference between them being an NIT contender and an NCAA contender.

Two shooters, including one who is an excellent point guard, and a versatile and reliable big are necessary for this team to be competitive next season. The other three can be role players or developmental players.

Personally I think they bring in 3 guards, all of which shoot close to 40% from 3. Lane, Booth, Hausen and Enis all shoot close to or OVER 40%. The only one they've contacted who doesn't shoot that well is Willis, but hes got other great attributes like his assist rate.

You’re correct. I was lumping.

You just described a Fantasy Football Auction strategy. Let the other teams spend a big portion of their budget on the Top 10-15% of the talent pool. Now you have the chance to outbid most other teams on the next tier of talented players.

You can very easily put together a winning roster this way but it sure does suck sitting idly by watching the true studs go elsewhere, though.
I think the big thing is the people who panic when there isn't immediate news or every time they see a player sign need to take a deep breath and realize that there are still new players going into the portal everyday and a ton of unsigned players.

It is all fun to track but everyone should wait until the dust settles before making assumptions about how the roster is going to look next season.

One thing I love about the roster so far is that most of the new guys have multiple years of eligibility available. No guarantees guys stick around more than one year these days but at least having the option is nice to see.
