2025 Transfer Portal Watch

especially given the committed forward group appears to pass and shoot.
BJ Omot logged 0 assists in 4 games last year and barely averaged more assists per 40 minutes than JOJ did in 2023-2024 (1.6 vs 1.2). Not saying he can’t pass…but I will be curious to see how Niko deploys him and how he plays.

Omot CAN PASS!
He just refuses to do so.
He is a GUNNER!

Careful. Objective takes invite vicious putdowns.

I love that guys, high end guys, keep entering. There are only 50-60 basketball programs that have big money and we are now one of them. These high end transfers are going to run out of blue bloods to go to and some of them are going to land right here in Minnesota.

And heaven knows who hasn't come out yet and still will. We're seeing hot players enter every day. Every one of these sentences is a double entendre.

Makes me wonder if it doesn’t serve some teams to wait until the smoke clears before building out a roster. The best players will likely sign more quickly but if high level guys keep entering the portal after the blue bloods have filled out their roster, that changes things.

I was thinking the same thing. I suppose that's one of the arts of navigating this. For us, if we miss out on Evans, there may be other equivalent fish in the sea.

Yeah, this is why Omot must play most of his minutes with 3 ball handlers. Similarly to JOJ, if he plays a wing position, it will really slow down the offense (IMO).

With the 15 roster limit increase I'm not so sure that's effective any longer.

Now going after coming out of the draft might be ideal as your internal guys can no longer enter the portal. They'll be forced to be adults about the ol fashioned way - competing for minutes.

So is he a candidate for a secondary scoring role? 6th man or second rotation scorer?

Or just a ball stopping habit that needs to be considered?

You just described a Fantasy Football Auction strategy. Let the other teams spend a big portion of their budget on the Top 10-15% of the talent pool. Now you have the chance to outbid most other teams on the next tier of talented players.

You can very easily put together a winning roster this way but it sure does suck sitting idly by watching the true studs go elsewhere, though.
