Robert Eaglestaff, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe: As a member of the Fort Yates Warriors in 1971, Eaglestaff set a North Dakota high school basketball record by scoring 69 points in one game. In 2004, he was inducted into the University of North Dakota Basketball Hall of Fame. Later, as principal at the American Indian Heritage School in Seattle, he focused on a drug- and alcohol-free policy and urged students to appreciate their heritage. Eaglestaff is credited with having 100 percent of the students graduate and advance to college.
