I am pretty shocked by South. Didn’t score more than 35 all year on any South metro team.

They game they had 35 they had 3 special teams plays that put them inside the 20 or better

They only have one guy who can punish you (#12)

#12 has 6 touchdowns tonight

South is double tight T

Farmington is single wing


North is I or one back stuff with a bunch of H backs


I feel South is the most unique.
Shakopee used to be in west so they’ve all seen midline triple.
Centennial runs triple
Etc


Nobody runs double tight T except South, elk River, South st paul

Did Maple Grove turn the ball over a bunch? South was good but never in a million years would have thought they would be able to put up 49 on Maple Grove.

Makes the egg Rosemount laid last week against STMA even more frustrating. Not sure I can bring myself to pull for South but I guess they are the only non West division team left in the final 4.

No, just twice and it was already 42-19 by their first fumble. Also threw an INT on their last possession after recovering an onside kick cutting it to 49-31 with a minute left.

South didn't punt until they had scored on 7 straight times they had ball, not counting their possession at the end of the 2nd Q. Ran 2 plays after getting it with 30 seconds left before half.

Maple Grove moved the ball well, but would have had to have been perfect to match Lakeville South.

Wow. Was at the Wolves game so I wasn't really following the scores tonight. Was rooting for Hill-Murray (who I would normally NEVER root for) but my manager's son plays for them, and I like her, so I wanted them to win.

Edina vs. EP was to me like Wisconsin vs. Iowa for us Gopher fans. I have such dislike for both, but I guess since Edina knocked off Forest Lake, who I played for and root for, I guess that's fine. I guess.

Maple Grove giving up 49 is insane. South must have played an absolutely flawless game.

Guess I'm rooting for Moorhead at this point. I'm sure as hell not rooting for Tonka as a Wayzata parent.

Attending in-person watching from the stands, the mis-directions a couple of times faked me out as much as the Maple Grove defense.

Even without the trickery, South's O-Line was just blowing the opposition several yards into the backfield, pretty much every play.

OL really good.
Kid with 6 touchdowns has the speed to make anything go. But in the past they had 2-4 guys who could do that.

The south metro teams who see T every year bottled them up more.
Will be interesting how Moorhead handles it.
I don’t think Moorhead played elk River last year so it may be their first time seeing it

I expect a lot of points in that game.

Just goes to show that the poll voters only pay attention to upper 2 classes... Filmore Central above Breckenridge is laughable when you compare schedules and QRF#s

In class A probably 2 or maybe even up to 4 the top 10 teams are not in the state tournament when you start looking at things closely... Barnum and Lester Prairie had no business in the State tournament. Lester had 1 win over a team with a winning record and that didn't come till the section championship game. Barnum gave up 300 yards rushing in the first 20 minuets last night and If Breckenridge wanted to they could have scored 100. Upsala Swanville Area played 2 good teams and lost both games this year.

If there was a seeding at the section championship level I think last nights games are all much closer. I assume #1 V #16 and #2 v #14 would still result in blowouts but that is a little bit to be excepted with teams that are favorites to get the the championship game. But a look to Class 6A and there are no extreme blowouts at the quarterfinals

The member schools would disagree on the regional representation. Those parts of the state want what they have. You’re going to hear and see a proposal again to go back to section football in 6A again. Last time the vote was 18-14 changing it.

Make it make sense though...

Was there a vote in class 5A-9P to move to the same format as 6A? Was there a vote in 5A-9P to seed 1-16? Why does 6A get to vote on things while the majority of the state gets bent over the barrel by the MSHSL?

Why would anyone want the 2nd best team in a class to not make the state tournament, BOLD last 2 years, probably more schools in that same time frame and again this year

Of course you are going to have at least 2 of the Top 10 teams miss the State Tournament. That's how math works in an 8 Team field.

Rating means squat the voters show that... But had bold been the #2 seed out of the 16 they are making it at minimum to the semis and most likely to the championship game.

NO, it is not insane. I view the State Tournament as a way to identify the Best Team. Not teams 2-8. Lose your Section, get out of the way and let someone else have a crack at it.

Wrong, I would not be singing a different tune. As an alum of Northfield I have seen that team be on both sides of it.

1997 - Beat undefeated Faribault in the Section Championship, they were rated #1. Northfield went on to when the Prep Bowl.

2014 - Only 2 losses were to Mankato West, who eventually won the AAAAA Prep Bowl.

Northfield might have been good enough to be a Finalist or for sure Semi-Finalist.

Too bad, but already knew that they weren't the Best. Thems the breaks.

They remaining teams aren't weak. They are Section CHAMPIONS and thus earned a bid to the State Tournament.

When there is a vote, people in weak sections prefer section play

If 6a votes the west metro - Hopkins and the south metro are the ones who want crossover

Everyone else wants section play

Definitely insane. AND being an alum of a team in your scenario also isn't what I was talking about. Anyone on that team who could have been a finalist would want the chance to be on the biggest stage, not on some obscure field with 10% the viewers
