2025 Minnesota High School Football Thread

I really, really, really want to see Forest Lake beat Edina. One, because I'm a FL grad, and also because I have a serious hatred for Edina football from my time coaching.
I think FL winning would be an upset. FL strengths on O are Edina’s strengths on D. If Edina follows Mounds View’s game Poland, they win by two scores. Turnovers may be the equalizer.

Yeah, I miss the old conference standings. Winning the conference used to be a big deal. Now it’s “Congrats, you’re East Skyway Copper - South District Champs” which is a district that won’t even exist in two years.

Also, there has to be a way to get games in at all of the smaller colleges around the state. Even if you have to do a couple at a stadium each day.
I don’t know how other states handle the quarterfinal round…neutral sites? My guess is the biggest challenge would be scheduling further in advance. The college stadium idea is good, but that might be cost prohibitive. I did notice that Eastview is hosting the same quadrant they were playing in, but it didn’t matter. Never seen that happen before.

I have it on good authority that Eastview hosting that quadrant would’ve been adjusted had Eastview advanced

How much better really are some of the small college facilities as opposed to the newer high schools with turf etc. I get that they don't want later playoff games on some of the poorer grass fields around the state.

Bottom line is the Rangers need to sack Mason West 5x or more. The run D is good. Secondary has proven to be the weak point If I am Edina I would run slants and out routes all game

Edina really only got big plays vs farm.
One drive the rest were big plays

To me it more comes down to forest lake defense.
Edina probably hits a few big plays and scores 21-28
Will forest lake score 29?
I’m not sure.

They might. That D is really good.

It comes down to who is willing to host, keep portable restrooms or has heated restroom infrastructure to accommodate the November games. It's not a small undertaking. They have a capacity requirement for games.

Gustavus has hosted in the past, but they don't have lights. St. Cloud hosted but they dropped football and not sure if they put their dome up earlier or at all anymore. MIAC and D2 are at least still playing games and have facilities open.

I believe they have only announced 6A sites as they need to see who is playing.

Spring Lake Park is hosting on the 6th, but they could be playing that week and would not want to host a game on the same night they may be playing at another venue.

True, but places that play on grass fields might be pretty soggy. Might be minimal but these are high schoolers so doesn't take a lot to knock many of them off their games. :)
50/50 games favor run teams tonight

Down goes Byron in rematch with Kasson Mantorville 31-28. Jackson 30-6 over LeSueur. JCC scored late in 2nd and was only up 8-0 at half.

Springfield loses to Murray County Central. 31-20.

Rosemount doesn’t seem to have much O vs STMA
Unfortunately Rosemount picked tonight to have their worst game of the year, especially on offense. Two huge fumbles, 2 INT. D played solid but couldn't get off the field quick enough and the refs swallowed their whistles (blatant pass interference in the first half that wasn't called).

STMA is physical and played mostly mistake free but that loss was far more on Rosemount's lack of execution and uncharacteristic mental mistakes. Bummer of the way to end the season but it happens.
