2025 Minnesota High School Football Thread

Schedule tab:
Before you saw number of games, and could filter region/section/class
Now: pathetic, good luck navigating

The navigation is completely different than I recall on Hockey Hub + the monetization/ads = lame

What idiot would design a standings page where you have to click every single conference to expand them?

You also can't search a school inside of the specific sport website you're looking at lol. There is no schedule page on the team page lmao. And the schedule on the right hand side doesn't even show all the games.

It's awful compared to mnhockeyhub before. I went to the archive of football hub from last year and ya the same. If you think the new one is a good website I don't know what to say.

Schedule is on the right of the team and results are in the banner of the team you select.

Agree that the scores page is bad. I go to Minnesota-scores.net for scores.

They are the same as they have been for years. It all comes down to whether the schools enter their information or not.
Which brings up a question I've had for quite sometime, but always forget to ask.

Are there there any real definitive sources for MN high school football records, or do they not exist since everything has to be self-reported by the schools? I feel like of all the sports, high school football has the worst record keeping.

Maybe,

Maybe, maybe not. All sports could be pushed back 1 or 2 weeks, in the central part of MN the spring sports are already moving most of the 1st 2 weeks of games already, and then craming 4 and 5 games in per week. The MSHSL should also not think for 1 second how legion and babe Ruth schedules would be affected. Iowa baseball I think starts in June. The Iowa state baseball tournament was July 21-25

It's amazing to me that everyone is beating to death we can't start earlier, or go later, but didn't look at my other suggestion to eliminate the MEA ridiculousness.

The hypocrisy in the rules of the MSHSL has in place for football are astounding. Its ok to send teams to a week of full contact camp in the summer, then force the same team to "acclimate" to pads and contact to start fall practice, then if its 84+ degrees north of I94 cant practice because its too hot. But then at the same time force teams into playing 3 games in 10 days, while just 9 weeks earlier we couldn't even have a thud period in the first 5 days. You just cant make it up
Next year will be later start. Labor Day is September 7th with School starting on the 8th.

  • Practices slated to start Augus17th
  • Scrimmages on August 29th
  • First Games on Sept. 3/4
  • MEA during week 7 causing Wednesday games on October 14th
  • Week 8 will have Wednesday small school and Thursday/Friday Big Schools
  • First round of games Tuesday the 27th
  • Section Semi-Finals on 30th and 31st of October
  • Section Finals the 5-7 of November
  • State Quarters the 12-14 of November
  • State Semi Finals on the 19-20 of November
    Prep Bowl on November 27-28

I use the MN Score Feed App There you can sort by class and find a team schedule pretty quickly. Also can see if the game is streaming and you can pick a favorite team to follow

I think quite a few districts are starting the week before next year.

Why? The season is the same length, just starts later with MEA during week 7. They’d have to get MSHSL approval for a week zero.

Its different, I have been putting in our schools stats on MN football hub for a few years. This years system tells me I need team admin permission. I am the team admin on the hub site... For 2 weeks I tried to jump through the football hub hoops and still nothing. If they want some accurate records they need to make it much simpler and flow better. Its 2 clicks to get an entire games stats onto MaxPreps.

Case in point, MN scores is easy to navigate. ON the hub page you have to find the Districts the see standings, and everyone knows that "this year" their team is on something memorable like Midwest - Central Copper District, and in a year we might be in the Mid Northwest - Valley Plains district. Nobody cares what the district standings because in the lower classes the districts are all intermixed with multiple class teams. People care to see what the section standings are.

These new "top 25" MN rankings are interesting, to a point. But I'm pretty sure the 9 man teams and all the other classes are still interested in a ranking for their classes...

He means school not football
Public schools can't start before Labor Day, is my understanding, without state approval. Typically for construction projects to start in the spring, by ending school early.

True. A lot of them are doing it anyways.
The area where I live had high school and middle school start before Labor Day this year. Elementary started after

From what I understand is you have to petition to start prior to labor day, and its a GPA decision. I think if your school GPA is under a certain threshold you are allowed to start earlier. I could be completely wrong but I have been told by more than one administrator that's how it works.

It’s not as complicated as that.
Basically you have to ask but I’ve never heard of someone asking and being told no

At least not in recent history

I think it will be a great match up of two top 5 teams.
Agree
Maybe not top 5 but for sure top 10

In 6a there is guaranteed to be no more than 11 teams left unbeaten after Friday

I would have to run numbers but I think it’s mathematically impossible to have more than 6 teams get to 4-0
