A friend and I just bought tickets to the Iowa game. We would like to tailgate with others and we are looking for any tailgates that would be available for us to join whether a UofM sponsored or someone on here. Please pass on any ideas, we are happy to bring food, beverages to contribute in addition to money. Thanks for any help you can provide.

From what Iowa ticket office told me, the lots don’t really sell spots ahead of time. Most are $40 on game day and the earlier you get there the better spot you’ll get. I’ve got 7 people - unsure exactly where we’ll end up (I have a few Iowa coworkers also making the trek, but if we end up on our own I’ll shoot you location of our tailgate lot/spot!

I’ve always found good luck finding spots northwest of the stadium and then walking along athletics facilities to the game

It's been 10 years since I've been down there & tailgated before game. I do know that they used to allow you to park your car the night before at a spot so we did that once, then walked back across the river. Day of game, walked to lot & didn't have to worry about getting early for a spot. That was the Myrtle Lot. But maybe the rules have changed since.

We poke fun at them, but I've been to Iowa City 6 times & have only had an issue once. Hawkeye fans are much better down in Iowa City than when they travel up here. Even in 2019 when I went same day & back to game, they were much more excited that they beat a good team than taunting that Minnesota sucks, at least the ones I encountered. Wherever you find a place, I'm sure you'll have a good time.

Can't remember the name of the lot that I reserved a spot in to tailgate (absolutely COULD reserve a spot in a tailgate lot), but it was really fun. I wish I recalled the name of the lot. I'd pass it along if I could.

When Iowa fans travel up here it's total amateur hour for many of them. A lot of small town people who don't get out of their little bubbles much. It's like monkeys getting out of their cages for a few days.

Worst traveling fans that I have ever experienced.

There's a lot of room and used to be parking on the grass at this big tailgating site. Good luck. Kinnick is ass. I hate that place and will never be back.

I would concur. The most crammed stadium ever including the bathrooms. Had to walk on the field after the game to get out the other side. No room for the players on the sideline. Put 70,000 in which should be 60 thousands seat max. Bank has a bigger footprint. I've been to the Iron Bowl in Auburn which is another erector set but much more pleasant.

I do remember parking on the golf course and tailgating back in 2007 which is a nice option.

Went with my wife (then fiancee) back in 2001 and we were taunted so much she has vowed never to return. I went again in 2009 and 2012 with my friend that had Iowa season tix and it was much better.

Finkbine Golf Course. They do season passes but not certain on single games. Call the Iowa ticket office for details.

Plus entrances in the old bowl that are so small it takes forever just to get in or out. Easy to miss the first quarter. It's like an bigger Williams Arena but with a much sketchier version of renovations over the years.

The 2005 game was Iowa’s senior Day. In one oh those crowded section entrances I ended-up standing in-line with the Iowa parents waiting to take the field. Everybody had a good laugh.
