2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

They're pretty good actually and probably won't have half their team opt out. Could be worse.
No one knows anything about New Mexico. If anything, people probably think it were Kill went to coach (which is wrong, I think lol)

If we lose, gonna be talked about like bowling green. If we win, we beat a team from some piss poor conference and means nothing.

This is coming from someone who wears maroon and gold blinders

If they lose, it's nothing like Bowling Green. We won't be favored by 24 points.

Your maroon blinders are causing you to vastly over-estimate how much the general MN sports fan/media will pay attention to this. It will be long forgotten 36 hours after the game ends.

Yeah. A tougher game than Kansas state or Iowa state

Zero upside

We should drop out of the bowl and pay the fine.
And tell the big ten fuck you for jumping a Nebraska team that has a worse conference record and a head to head loss over
If you're worried about negative local media attention/mockery, pussying out and refusing the Bowl game would be talked about for weeks.

Not that old. Born while Nixon was President Elect. You do the math.
Yeah. You’re old. I am too.

We remember the 80’s and 90’s Nebraska fans that would have gotten in their grandpa’s rusty pickup truck and drove to this game in Vegas - and lost their summer job money playing slots.

That just isn’t happening anymore. Vegas actually probably gets the greatest economic impact by taking Illinois.

I’m not worried about the media at all. There is zero upside to playing the game

I question why the B1G doesn’t have better bowl affilaltions?
They need to do better.

That's subjective. Lots of people can't justify a trip to Dublin for a football game. Second.....I'd argue that there are fans that may be more likely to make a trip over winter break when it's cold......to a place like Arizona.

But once again....there was never a situation in which these teams could either go to Dublin OR play in a bowl game. They could do both.....so the argument that you're having with ghosts over which game matters more is irrelevant.

I didn't state it had to be either/or. Nowhere.

In the post you are replying to, I also did not make reference to the game itself in Dublin mattering more.

You initiated the back and forth, not some ghost.

Then why force the comparison when it's completely irrelevant? It was a stupid take even before doubling down.

It's all relative. When I went to The Grateful Dead movie in a theater this past summer, I brought down the age by several years. I'm positive I was the only one not alive for JFK.

I think they’ll have all new affiliations next year

And it will expand because they need homes for the pac teams
It’s just really silly to have a bowl game in Detroit every year (that Michigan and Michigan State have successfully lobbied like hell to stay out of).

Outside of the possible "embarrassment" of losing, what's the downside?
there is no upside other than practices
There isn’t a huge downside either

The downsides comes from allowing the big ten to screw you with no recourse

Only way they should re up that game is if there is contracts that make it higher up with a guaranteed P4 opponent

Lol. So if we "refuse" next year the B1G will say "ooh, Minnesota is very serious. We must give them priority over Nebraska!" Get real. The local media would mock them to death and nothing would change.

So nothing changes either way
I agree
No downside or upside either way

Yes, but I also question why year in and year out, we manage to give away 1-2 games and then bitch, whine and moan about bowl placement. We did this to ourselves as usual. Beat Northwestern. Best Cal. It’s that simple. You’d be playing on New Year’s Day if you were 8-4 or 9-3, but we give it away…annually.

It would be the most Minnesota thing ever to have the bowl streak broken by New Mexico. They are good. Better than most here realize. It’ll be their superbowl so the Gophers better bring a different team than the one that traveled to Chicago.
