2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

Yup, this is how I feel. Let’s admit that if logic and “fairness” were applied to bowl placements, MN would be in Vegas or Nashville with a better conference record AND thorough H2H win over Nebraska. So if Coyle did indeed lobby this year for a placement other than Phoenix, MN got snubbed straight up on the assumption that Nebraska will bring more eyeballs and traveling fans. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of life…but a 3/10 on the irritation scale lol.
Its cute you think anybody in the B1G listens to Coyle.

Or can understand him for that matter.

Can’t believe I’m still seeing some Media fools still project NW going to Rate over us and have us going to Ford Field Toilet Bowl! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Versus ISU would be interesting from a regional perspective. We both hate I-O-W-A.
If that is still on the ESPN website - I'd say "Bonagura - stop mailing it in - KSU has already said it will not play any bowl game!"

Only place I see that is CBS Sports, which historically made picks on what they think is interesting - A Minnesota v. Western Michigan is certain to garner more attention than it would deserve.

If Northwestern somehow gets the Rate I'm holding out hope that the SEC doesn't fill all its spots and we can back into the Mayo bowl again instead, bit the consensus of people who should have someidea is Rate for us.

if Rutgers becomes the fill in team in the rate bowl that could reshuffle everything to avoid a repeat matchup

I was pounding away trying to make the Rate bowl work with my schedule and it just won't work. Stinks if we get that one, I wanted to go to a bowl game this year but the 26th is just a terrible day to have it on with family and etc obligations.

Iowa State, due to losing their couch and having to handle all the roster chaos just pulled themselves from any bowl game
I was thinking about this and was wondering if the interim coach could make a pitch to the players.

"Guys I get it, this stinks, but if you vote to go I promise we're going to make practices fun, put in some fun crazy plays and go bananas on gameday!"

I remember Jeff Horton when he was interim head coach he told the players they were just going to have fun for a few games and at practice. He beat Iowa ...

If we do get Rate Bowl, then our opponent probably won’t be too exciting or competitive. Hey, it’ll at least extend our bowl winning streak. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I hear ya, old friend.

Trying to convince family Gopher football is more important than extended family is a tough sell. But a shopping spree at Fashion Square Mall and a fancy dinner at a fine dining restaurant improved my cause. 😆

Airfare is outrageous also! Around $1000/person just for regular shit main cabin seats.

Yup.

"Look I'd rather be at the Rate Bowl than with you guys ..."

😬

Kansas State and Iowa State both looking at the projections to play the Gophers and saying "nope....don't want to be the next on their bowl kill list".

But seriously.....go figure that it looks like it's going to be a Rate Bowl year.....and a bunch of the Big 12 teams opt out. Rate Bowl, Pinstripe, Mayo Bowls place plenty of good matchups....and we ALWAYS miss them. Always manage to pull the lousiest possible matchups.

Gophers finished 5-4 in Big Ten and Nebraska finished 4-5, both at 7-5 overall.

Arguments could be made. Alas, it really doesn't matter with these made for TV exhibitions.

Similar things happened in 2021 and 2022 with the Music City Bowl. They've done everything in their power to avoid having to take the Gophers in Nashville.
We should be ahead of Nebraska.

Does the big 12 have enough teams for rate bowl or is the bowl likely to be filled with a Mountain West team?

That Iowa game ruled! Marquis Gray. Onside kick. Moment of happiness during a bleak season

I have some questions for the folks who use the term meaningless to describe the Gophers upcoming bowl game...

1) What makes any college bowl game meaningful vs meaningless? Is it only the playoff games that have meaning?

Correct only the CFP has meaning in today's world. Players, Coaches and now entire teams are opting out.

If all the Non-Playoff Bowls completely disappeared, I wouldn't lament it for a single second.

They both already had their Bowl, in Dublin back in August.

Not a bowl game.

Good thing you don't make the decisions.

CFN has Michigan accepting an invite to the Citrus Bowl. Nebraska has accepted an invitation to the Las Vegas Bowl, Iowa to the ReliaQuest Bowl, Illinois to the Music City Bowl

Not a bowl game.
You're right. Going to Dublin for a meaningful Conference game is far better to than each and every Non CFP Bowl.

Good thing you don't make the decisions.
I'm not advocating that they go away. Those that enjoy them, knock yourselves out.

I choose to opt out. Just like Kansas St & Iowa St. Better things to do with my time.

You're attacking a strawman. Don't think anyone is making the argument that bowl games are more important than regular season conference games.
