2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

Yeah, with Samford and South Carolina there's basically no way that happens. Maybe they lose 1-2 games or maybe 3 if things go really bad but no way they lose to Samford and South Carolina.
A&M is a good football team with a ton of talent. If they win their next two i see can them going undefeated.

We are likely to get a Bowl game, probably Pinstripe or Rate. They are okay Bowls, but it is difficult to care very much right now. If I have to hear P.J. say "It's on Me" even one more time, I think that I will throw up.

We knew this year might have some significant "growing pains", especially with a redshirt freshman starting QB and a rebuilt offensive line. And P.J. has surprised us before in showing resilience coming back from bad defeats. But this one is very very hard, and like I say, I am so tired of his "Shtick" with "it's on Me".

Playing Toledo in Detroit to playing LSU in Nashville is… a wide range of possible outcomes.

I think we’ll end up in the middle, probably an ACC or Big 12 team in the Rate, Pinstripe, or equivalent.
you have to throw into consideration, that we play a boring brand of football that will hurt us in the long run as well. We'll usually end up in whatever the lowest rung available is for us.

We have at least altered the perception of supporting the team, and everybody likes a circus, so inviting PJ is one of the areas we benefit with him as coach. I'd prefer it was on field performance, but, we'll take what we can get.

CBS, doing what CBS always does. Is it possible whoever they have doing their bowl projections thinks Minnesota is in Conference USA?

I could be mistaken but it seems to get the Sports Bowl, the Gophers would pretty much need to lose out at this point. I would yawn my way through any bowl played on a baseball field. I can't stand those, as chunks of baseball turf flies skyward on every play and players slide around like they are on skates.

I do like to see the Music City Bowl projections. That would be a decent game vs an SEC foe and after such a shaky regular season for the Gophers, it would be a bit ironic to get that Bowl.

I'm sick of hearing the tidbit "And the Gophers have the best record of any B1G team ever to play in this bowl game."

I don't believe CBS is updating their site. No team in the lower bowls, have changed in 3 weeks.

So we know we are getting in a Bowl this year. Cool!

The Wild Card on these projections is always whether the BIG gets three or four teams into the playoffs. Michigan or Iowa could sneak in, depending on how teams in the ACC and SEC do in the next three weeks. If the BIG gets four teams into the playoff, everyone else moves up a notch, and I just do not see the Detroit Bowl getting a BIG team this year.

For the sake of arguments, assume Iowa sneaks into the playoffs. That sends Michigan to Orlando and likely Illinois to Tampa. So let's think about the Bowl placement of the Gophers if this happens.......

So....... Music City gets choice of us or Nebraska. Assume we are passed over (a fairly likely assumption for our Gophers) and that leaves us the Vegas Bowl.

I actually like Nashville as a town to visit much better than Vegas. But the Vegas Bowl would be okay.Been to a coupl've work conferences in Nashville, and also there in 2004 for the Goph's Bowl victory over Alabama. Of course there are things to do in Vegas........

If we lose to Northwestern, then I suppose we would drop to the Pinstripe or even the Phoenix Bowl. Just cannot see us getting stuck in Detroit this year.

As inconssitent as we have been this year, I am still expecting victories over Northwestern (and Bucky). DO NOT LOSE TO BUCKY.........

CBS still has Maryland (1-4 in the B1G) ahead of us, and they have games at Rutgers, Ill and MSU and a home game against Mich. They are 4-4 overall and did not play a non-conference game against a P4 school

Yeah just went back and checked, they've had Gophers Vs. Ohio since the end of September. Kind of odd since projections were varied before. First four weeks bowls ranged from Pinstripe to Music City and Rate, with opponents including Kansas State, Baylor and Arkansas.

Ahhh Gopherhole - where posters are more worried about what an outdated CBS Sports has us predicted to play in than the upcoming weeks game...

CBS Sports usually gives us a rotten bowl projection unless our record forces them to elevate us. Jerry Palm did that and it seems the new guy is following in his footsteps.

Ahhh Gopherhole - where posters critique discussions about bowl games and point out how we should be talking about our upcoming game against *checks notes*......bye week.

Ahhh Gopherhole, where people are so eager to "catch" someone not being a proper fan, they actually forget about the Gophers and who they are not playing in the upcoming weekend.

These final weeks of the B1G season are going to be fascinating.
  • Oregon still plays Iowa, USC, and Washington. Not likely, but they could pick up 2 more losses and get knocked out of the playoff picture.
  • Iowa and USC still play each other, so one of them could could easily get INTO the playoff picture by winning out.
  • Michigan has NW and Maryland before OSU and could/should be 9-2 going into that game.
  • IU and OSU almost certainly playing for the overall #1 seed in the B1G championship game.
Gonna be fun to follow the playoff picture, let alone the Gophers bowl possibilities.

Current Standings (removing former Pac12 teams as they will likely go to Pac12 legacy bowls)
Indiana 9-0
Ohio State 8-0
Michigan 7-2
Iowa 6-2
Minnesota 6-3
Illinois 6-3
Nebraska 6-3
Northwestern 5-3 (@USC, Michigan, Minnesota, @Illinois)
Maryland 4-4 (@Rutgers, @Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State)
Rutgers 4-5 (Maryland, @Ohio State, Penn State)
Penn State 3-5 (Indiana, @Michigan State, Nebraska, @Rutgers)
Michigan State 3-6 (Penn State, @iowa, Maryland)
Wisconsin 2-6 (Washington, @Indiana, Illinois, @Minnesota)
Purdue 2-7

Big Ten bowls
Citrus (Orlando, FL): Iowa and Illinois ineligible Prediction: Michigan
Reliaquest (Tampa, FL): Michigan ineligible Prediction: Iowa
Las Vegas (Las Vegas, NV): Prediction: Illinois
Music City (Nashville, TN): Iowa ineligible Prediction: MInnesota
Pinstripe (New York, NY): Nebraska ineligible...Rutgers, Minnesota, Maryland have also been within last 8 years) Prediction: Northwestern
Rate Bowl (Phoenix, AZ): Rutgers ineligible Prediction: Nebraska
Sports Bowl (Detroit, MI): Prediction: Maryland/Rutgers winner

The Maryland vs Rutgers game is significant for that final bowl spot. If Rutgers can beat Maryland and get to eligibility, the conference can make a case that they should be moved above Rate Bowl AND Pinstripe due to recent visits, giving them an "undeserved" slot in Music City. That would mean Maryland or Minnesota has to repeat at Pinstripe with the other going to Rate Bowl. Ish. I guess I'm rooting for Maryland this weekend.

At this point with BTN and our deals with other networks.

B1G should make it's own non playoff bowls ... probably could get some prime locations and better TV time slots than the bowls get on their own ....

I to this day think rather than the big ten adding USC, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon they should have just bid for the pac 12 and big 12 tv rights

Pretty good analysis

A lot of moving parts still.

If Michigan doesn’t go to the playoff the gophers want them to drop games
The gophers want Illinois to drop games.

Bowl placement rooting interest:
Nov 8
USC > northwestern
Indiana > Penn state
Ohio State > Purdue
Rutgers > Maryland (don’t think Rutgers would jump MN, Maryland might)

Oregon > Iowa doesn’t matter
Iowa making playoff would bump everyone up a spot but I hate Iowa. Go ducks.

Washington > Wisconsin
UCLA>nebraska

It’s honestly too early to do rooting interests the following week still.
For instance
If Maryland beats Rutgers we probably want Illinois to beat Maryland but if Rutgers beats Maryland we probably want Maryland to beat Illinois
