We may start seeing tweets from Gopher players they are entering the portal as early as tonight/tomorrow.

Difficult Conversations with Coach Fleck will start happening Monday I'm guessing.

In the meantime, any predictions who will enter The Portal either choice or by nudge?

Let’s hope we get some amazing pick ups like Brosmer

Look at Indiana, Colorado, South Carolina, etc. Middle of the pack power 5 teams can have a great year because of the transfer portal.

Studs playing for nin-P5 and studs not starting for Blue bloods transfer. We need to be in that portal all day every day.

With the bigger rosters allowed will more players stay? Or less? It’s an interesting thought experiment.

Any chance Coach DeLattiboudere connected with this kid in 2020 and Coach Brew told him that the chili is hot in MN?

reminder - if the House settlement goes through for 2025 - there will be new roster limits with an absolute limit of 105 players on the roster. they don't all have to be full scholarship players (partial scholarships are allowed), but no more than 105 total.

the current roster shows 112 players by my count - at least the ones listed with jersey numbers.

there are 16 players who have used up their eligibility - but 22 recruits coming in for next year. that's a plus-6 - putting the total roster at 118.

in other words, the Gophers have to somehow remove/cut 13 players to get down to the 105 limit. and that is with no portal additions. if they add players through the portal, then someone else currently on the roster has to go to keep the limit at 105.

so - any walk-ons or fringe players who don't figure in the plans for next year will - I expect - be "encouraged" to hit the portal.

keep this in mind when watching portal announcements.

Former FCS All American and was on the Senior Bowl watch list. NDSU has already removed him from all 2024 stats and rosters.

Grew up just east of Lacrosse, WI

The bill has already passed, so you're right—the number for next year will be 105. He's already had the conversation with the players, so they mostly know what to expect. You can expect to see more players entering the portal for various reasons. Some, like walk-ons, may have no choice, while others are seeking more playing time or better financial opportunities. With schools now allowed to pay players, it’s a positive change, but players talk. If one player finds out that someone at the same position is making more money, it could prompt them to consider leaving as well.

Former Gopher commit

Looks like the grass wasn't greener for Boyd - 3 years at Texas Tech - 19 catches and one TD total during that time. Assume he will drop down to a lower level school to finish out his career.
Moved closer to home, but yeah, didn't really pan out there. Had 1 catch in 10 games his senior year.

He should consider playing at the FCS level. The stats clearly show he's no more than a backup at the FBS level. If he can't get on the field at TT as a wide receiver, that's a problem, especially since they rotate their receivers frequently.

Go Gophers!!
Would look good in Maroon and Gold, just sayin.
He told the Wisconsin media that he would consider the option of playing baseball in addition to football at a new school (he's apparently a lefty who touches 90 on his fastball) and Minnesota has shown a willingness to allow that. It sounds like Wisconsin saw him more as a safety going forward than a corner and, while we can always use more safeties, corner seems to be a bigger need.

Real shame Badgers torpedoed their baseball team 30 years ago. Talk about a cheap sport. Never made sense to me.
