2024-25 Gopher Hockey Season

WMU/UMN/UMass/Mankato
UMN/WMU/Umass/Mankato

Seems this will be your Fargo region

Field now locked other than ECAC and aha autobids. If we’re a 2, almost certain it’ll be UMass now

Qu and PSU are within .0001 in rpi. Unsure if how the title games play out tweaks it at all but it must as the matrix has them about 50/50 each

Maine/Uconn/QU/PSU in Allentown. QU and PSU can switch places but doesn't matter for the other regional.

Yeah agreed it’s most likely. Just meaning qu would be literally the only other possibility where they go integrity though given they’re close to Kato, would envision they go that way for travel and attendance

Thanks, all in all a pretty good draw. Western is better than us without Huglen but not by a lot. Avoiding DU/BU/PSU is big.
WMU is really, really good. A clear top 4 best team in the country.

UMass/Mankato are beatable.

I actually like how we match up with wmu. They play up and down and it would be a very fun game. Both teams roll lines. They’re probably faster top to bottom than us. Similar to how we’ve matched up with bu the last 2 years. Game likely decided by which “1st” line has the bigger day and special teams

Shut down Alex Bump
Hope Slukynsky doesn't rub in your face missing out on the next MN NHL goalie with an insane game

Yep. Don’t know if you shut him down entirely, but if he has 1 point or less and I would feel great about beating them

Drive time to Enterprise Center from home arena:
WMU: 6 hr 15 min
OSU: 6 hr 20 min
MSU: 7 hr 18 min
Mankato: 8 hr 8 min
UMN: 8 hr 31 min

Good chance two of the above make the FF and they will have the best fan support numbers with UND and UM out of the picture.

CHN thinking that if Qunnipiac is 4 seed, they’ll end up in Fargo and maintain bracket integrity. Minnesota already there along with tickets sold so not necessary to have MSU. We’ll see how it shakes out. Gotta win 2 tough games regardless.

Some tickets will open up, but North Dakota fans are the type that will show up and cheer against someone like Minnesota.

Which is funny because I’m sure most Gopher fans don’t even think about them anymore. I know I don’t.

i'd be pretty surprised based on travel and that Mankato is not an autobid given their RPI is now within the tournament cutoff (ahead of Michigan) compared with most years where the CCHA is in the 20s where bracket integrity is more important to reward your top seeds. Travel wise it makes way more sense to keep QU out east. If they're a 3 it gets more debatable as you're sending QU or UMass but with 3 HE teams in the 2 band it's going to be UMass as the HE teams can't play them (if we end up as the 1, QU could be sent out here to play WMU as in that scenario, DU has passed Prov).

So in short, it would be very surprising if we're not playing Mankato or UMass in round 1 to me unless they're throwing out travel/regionality for teams who are viewed as "like"

Note: QU will be a 3 seed if Cornell wins. PSU the 3 seed if Clarkson wins. Only other seed lines that are changing are DU-Prov based on if DU wins and WMU-MN based on if WMU wins. Everything else is locked

Motzko is 1-5 against Kato with two season enders. And we all know about Qpac. Either match up would be crazy.

So are we gonna hate on msu for playing shell and giving up a 2 goal lead in the 3rd?

Denver doing their best to help us out. Billy Guerin do the college hockey world a favor and sign Buium as soon as his season ends.

It's actually comical how little it bothers me when another team does it. Everything the Gophers do is magnified for me. In any sport. I'm trying to overcome that flaw in my character.

Matt Davis pulls a Souliere to let Western tie the game up.

The Gophers and Maine will be the two teams to face a seed a little higher than bracket integrity. UConn and WMU will be the "lucky" two.

UMass has arguably the best forward in the country and an NHL bound goalie I dreamed of the Gophers getting in a miracle. It'll be a tough matchup.

To be fair there are no easy matchups aside from maybe the aha auto who bc should smoke

Looking at it now, it is the goalie region of death other than the Gopher goalies
