2024-25 Gopher Hockey Season

Man I don’t understand your ongoing love affair with BC. They’re so much more single line dependent this year with that line not being as good as the one last year. They’ve been trailing 7 times going into the 3rd already this year and their PP has been poor to say the least. They will absolutely get better as the year goes on, but they’re not as head and shoulders above everyone as everyone was thinking for this year (and how they were through a ton of last year except when it mattered most) which is awesome for college hockey
He loves every program better than the Gophers every year. For a while, BU was his love child when that had all of those First Round picks ( they never won it all ). Same with Michigan. BC is his new one this year. He also said the Gophers are done after this year, so I guess he won't post anymore and not follow the team after this year.

No Nevers nor Pahlsson this weekend
No Nevers/Pahlsson/Wood vs. MSU, which means Michel and Begley in your top 12.

Ya.

Two wins over the next four feels the best we can realistically hope for.

Might have to rely on a 3 line rotation a little bit the next two series. Is Bob willing?

It likely won't be a question of will. It will be a response to necessity.

yeah i guess depends on what Canada says to Wood about being there for the prelim/training camp but is going to make that MSU series rough. I'm not as worried about the Mich series wise from a player standpoint, he played the 4th line for 8 mins the second game vs Alaska after Nevers went out and we have the line matching option at home for when their shifts are against a team with nowhere near the scoring depth they had last year.
The MSU series a vastly bigger challenge if Wood is out.

Vegoe said yesterday Wood will be gone.
Ah crud. Didn’t know if was confirmed for sure or if assumed because that’s how they’d done it with fantilli at Michigan prior. Bummer but hopefully we can get some big performances from others and play solid defensively to counter

I agree with all that. Would be much more concerned about our 4th line if the series was being played in Ann Arbor. I am actually pleasantly surprised with how much energy our 4th line seems to generate. I think the key to this Mich series is how much scoring our top lines get. We need production from them, ideally early. In other words we can't afford to jerk around for two periods this weekend before we decide to play. The MSU series... woof. I think Bonin is right. Best we can realistically expect there is a split. In fact, I think I'll be okay with a split in both series. Not thrilled but okay.

He should have a good chance to get the most points in November with two games remaining against Alaska.

Also, he should have a decent chance at National Player of the Month if he has a big weekend, which the Gophers haven't had in a long time. I actually can't find the last time it happened.
No points against Alaska

November player of the month: Ryan Leonard BC

You score 8 goals in a month including multiple late game goals and yeah that’ll happen. Probably have had the #2 guy both months (Kurth last month).

Hopefully he gets the scoring touch going this weekend as well need him big time

Not so bold prediction: Team that scores first in both games wins.

This BS getting scored on first needs to stop against good teams.

Best start of the year. Shots 14-2 and Wood roofs one from in close. 1-0

I hardly had a chance to see any of the Gophs this year so what a time to tune in!

PP can't do anything but the rest of the period insane.

3-0

Shots 18-2 or 18-3

Just realized they're missing their best player

That may be the most impressive period by any team in the country this year.

3-0 lead after the first, color me shocked. Still a lot of time left to commit dumb penalties and let them right back in. Probably finish either a 5-4 win or an OT loss.

Is this satire?

I'm wondering if Michael Hage left the team and they came in rattled by that.

I take back awful everything I've ever said about this program, Bob Motzko is our savior and we'll never lose another game with him coaching us.
