Interesting home/away breakdown. If the Gophers were realistically a top third team, this would be a terrible schedule with road-games only against the league's predicted top 4: USC, UCLA, OSU & Nebraska (and also Maryland). But as a team more realistically aiming for 7th-10th, it's not bad to have the home schedule loaded with what appear to be more winnable games: Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Rutgers, PSU, Wisconsin, which leaves Illinois, IU and Iowa as the closer-to-toss-up games that you'd rather play at home than on the road.

Good take. Let’s hope for better than 10th as that team now plays on weakling Wednesday. With the Gophers team mostly intact I thought top 6 finish was in play but the teams ahead of them mined the portal with some impactful players with USC, UCLA getting stronger. We added some depth but not sure if they did enough to move up significantly. The team is talented so maybe a second year in Coach P system is enough to move the needle next season.

I think we all agree some opponents could be better or worse. NIL is a big factor. We don't know. Otherwise, great take.
 


Wisconsin only team we play home and away.
Anything better than 7th or 8th and it would seem we overachieved without a nice addition between now and the season.
 

If everyone is healthy there's no reason this team can't finish 7th or 8th. Cant be using the "young" card anymore. Time to get this program back on the map! Go Gophs!

Any news on the non-conference schedule? We know some of the men’s non-conference opponents, and some BIG WBB teams have had non—conference information released.

Have heard possible game against North Florida around Dec 3rd-4th. Former Gopher Gadvia Hubbard is with that program as a coach. Nothing confirmed on this just heard through the grapevine.
 

If I were scheduling, every year would have:

An exempt tournament
At least one power 5 (ACC, SEC, BigXII, Big East) home game and true road game
A bunch of regional schools at home.
 

Drake non-conference schedule is out and Gophers are not on it. Somewhat of a surprise given the visit last season by Drake, and the recent history of home-and-home games with Drake. Drake was also the Gophers' best non-conference win last season.

That was the second part of the home/home series with Drake. From what I am hearing, it appears with the increased intensity and new teams in big ten, their non-conference schedule is likely not going to have many known big name schools. It sounds like their tournament-level wins will need to come from conference.

If travel is a concern, there is no reason that home & homes with Iowa St, Marquette, Creighton or DePaul can't get done.

Minnesota Women's Basketball will compete in the Briann January Classic and Big Easy Classic this 2024-25 season. The Briann January Classic in Tempe, Arizona will feature games against SMU and Oregon State from November 16-17.
The Big Easy Classic will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana from November 29-30 against Houston and Louisiana.

With Oregon State losing its conference and 8 players to the portal, seems likely that the Gophers will play 4 Quad 3/4 opponents in these tournaments. Last year's NET ranking, and new NCAA quadrants below:

One thing to remember is some of those teams are now in new Power Five (Power Four) conferences. We know 5 opponents right now

FWIW, playing the Ragin Cajuns in New Orleans will count as a neutral court NET game (unless NCAA rules have changed). Louisiana plays its home games in Lafayette.

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women's basketball program will compete in the 2024 Briann January Classic and the Big Easy Classic this upcoming season. In Tempe, Ariz., the Briann January Classic will feature games against SMU and Oregon State from Nov. 16-17, while the Big Easy Classic will be played in New Orleans, La., from November 29-30 against Houston and Louisiana.

Minnesota will play Houston at the Big Easy Classic first on November 29, followed by Louisiana on November 30. The Briann January Classic will be played at Desert Financial Arena on the campus of Arizona State University, marking the first time since 2006 the Gophers will play in a non-conference tournament/classic in the state of Arizona. The Big Easy Classic will feature two different tournaments, with Minnesota playing in the Bayou Tournament at John A. Alario Center. Minnesota has never played a tournament/classic in the state of Louisiana.

SMU (ACC) is set to join the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2024-25 season after competing in the American last season where they finished 14-16 overall and 10-7 in conference play. The Mustangs most recently reached the WNIT in both 2022-23 and 2021-22.

Oregon State (WCC) will compete in the West Coast Conference during the 2024-25 campaign after finishing 27-8 last season in the Pac-12. The Beavers reached the NCAA Elite Eight last season and had a 14-win year-to-year turnaround from the season prior.

Louisiana (Sun Belt) reached the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals last season, finishing with an overall record of 17-14 and a 10-8 record in conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off their fifth consecutive winning season, which marks the longest stretch in program history.

Houston (Big 12) completed their first season in the Big 12 in 2023-24, finishing with an overall record of 14-16 and 5-13 in conference play. Houston last played in the postseason in 2021-22, where they reached the WNIT Super 16.

Fans who are interested in claiming tickets for the Briann January Classic can contact the Arizona State University athletics ticket office. Single-game tickets at Arizona State are not scheduled to be released until the Fall of 2024. For the Big Easy Classic, more information on tickets will be available at the end of August.

It's hard to believe how close we are getting to the 2024/25 season already. I haven't seen an announcement, but I assume they will start practice the 1st or 2nd week of October.
 

The Gophers will host Jackson State on Wednesday, December 11th.
 



Gophers will open at home on Monday, November 4 per Dawn at the Fair. Still can't announce who.....but she hopes schedule can be released soon. She also noted it would be a military appreciation night at that November 4 game.
 

Sounded like maybe no non-conference road games, but not 100% clear. Said on Randball Pod weren’t ready to play on road last year in conference, then mentioned 4 neutral site non-con games this year.
