Maybe I missed it, but I have not seen anyone claim that he would be a “game changer.” But guys like go for GopherWeatherGuy have the ridiculous take that he should somehow go down a level to prove himself before he transfers back to our almighty Gophers. Walton is a take. He’s a talent. He would help us.

Agree he is a take. Also transferring from UNC to us would be transferring a level down

The way the roster sits now, and thinking Garcia is probably on his way into the fold, I'd be surprised if anyone but a guard comes our way:

Forwards: Ihnen, Payne, Thompson, Fox, Ola Joseph, Battle, Garcia (7)
Guards: Carrington, Henley, Thiam (3)
Open slots (3) PG, CG, CG

If Ryan James is accurate then Ben feels pretty similarly about Walton as I do. I guess our coach must have a ridiculous take on him too.

You are spot on. Johnson is looking for fit first. If the player will fit with the vision, they will be contacted. Former Minnesota preps are just more likely to answer the phone when he calls.

I have no doubt that Johnson will take a MN player over an equal player from out of state at this point. He is trying to make MN an attractive destination for MN preps. The more MN connections that he can provide, the better chance he has at wooing some of the 4 and 5 stars in the future.

We all know how provincial Minnesotans are. If someone's best friend's girlfriend's cousin is on the team and had a great experience, it just might make a difference with the next MN stud player two years down the road.

You have to walk before you can run. Johnson is playing the long game. He is trying to make the Gophers attractive to local talent. There is no team in the B1G that is as overlooked by local recruits as the Gophers are today. It is just not cool. This has to change.

To answer BGA1...I'm really not sure. Walton? Henley? Carrington? Someone else? A Point Forward? I don't know but there are teams out there without a 'true' point guard. I think a roster of what we've got, what we have coming in, what we have coming back from injury, and these four would make for a very interesting/versatile/talented team and I would love to see them play

Your roster would also have 14 guys sharing 13 scholarship.
 





Wednesday April13th's announcements are probably cooked for the day at 10:50 pm.
My plea to Ben: Please, sign a couple guys tomorrow! That way I don't have to tune in 85 times daily to see who we got. I could relax a bit.
Good Friday, Easter Sunday weekend probably not a bustling recruiting time?
Thursday it is Ben!

Or you could take your time and blow us away with the four incoming transfers we never thought would even consider us because they are toooo good for us! How'd he do that? But, that's a lotta pressure.

Your choice. Just know we are getting anxious.

Come on Ben. Do your job. This GH crowd is really getting anxious and very nervous. To the point of needing psych help and a boatload of meds to maintain our sanity. Unveal your findings stat so we can stop this craziness, angst and gnashing of teeth and get on with all the dissecting, over analyzing, criticizing and complaining about all the new Gophers. Or maybe even get excited and be happy about the newcomers.

Its what we do.

Legend indeed! I truly believe the dalliance with the Texas A&M trio really set the program back a few steps last year. Add McNeilly to the Mount Crushmore of Gopher hoops with Ganglehoff for writing papers, Russ Archambault for fighting Khalid El-Amin, and a pantheon of others.
