2021 Turkey of the Year Prediction Thread

In the Star Tribune? This is a blue governor you're talking about, right? I'll bet you $10,000 cold hard cash that never happens in a million years, not in that dying newspaper
You're on. If it happens you own me $10K. And if in a million years it doesn't ever happen, you'll get your $10K. Glad you can bookmark these posts :cool03:

Well deserved, but falvey/lavine should be the easy winner here.

Reusse alluded to on twitter that part of the reason to bestow the dishonor to Rosas that it was a "now or never opportunity". Falvey/Lavine are already on the clock for 2022.

You fools realize that the turkey of the year is almost exclusively a sports things, right?
Almost, but not totally. The 2020 accolade went to Coyle as the Turkey Revived Under Mandate by Public (TRUMP), so politics is not completely out of bounds.

I thought Walz would have been more in play last year with state restrictions on Town Ball.

He's never actually given the award to anyone other than an athletic figure. Coyle is the AD. Saying it should go to Walz is simply the wacky minds of triggered folks at work.

It would go to a sports person, but no sports winner is a more deserving than that tool, Walz

1) Walz likes to remind people that he is a former State Champion HS football coach
2) He shut down HS sports last year, and then "Let Them Play MN" sued Walz seeking to end his youth sports pause.
3) Let Them Play MN repeatedly asked Governor Walz and MDH to show us any data indicating wearing masks while playing youth sports, or any other of their constantly changing restrictions are necessary, or even safe,"
4) There were protests outside the Gov's mansion, wanting to him to restart HS sports.
5) April 2021, the Let Them Play MN group, which opposed many sports-related pandemic restrictions, received thousands of pages of internal government emails from last fall, raising concerns about a spokesman advising to promote the break, by linking youth sports infections to serious COVID-19 cases in long-term care.

No problem with keeping people from spreading covid. The real turkeys don't care.

It worked beautifully, and is still working beautifully.

The highest cases ever in Minnesota, and he's got them playing sports. Thank goodness he didn't let them play last year when the cases were lower.

There's some logic in there somewhere.

Deaths per day way down from the peak last year, because people are now vaccinated. Vaccinated people far less likely to have life threatening effects. Much safer now.

Plenty of logic to be found for those who have working brains.
