14. MIAMI DOLPHINS VIA HOUSTON TEXANS: RASHOD BATEMAN, WR, MINNESOTA

The Dolphins will be able to use their war chest of assets to give Tua Tagovailoa some weapons, with this pick looking like a prime spot to add a receiver. Tua’s former Alabama teammates Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle would obviously be in play here, but don’t sleep on Bateman. He was the best receiver in the Big Ten as a sophomore and figures to have a huge final season at Minnesota alongside quarterback Tanner Morgan. I don’t think it’s out of the question Bateman could be in the mix as the draft’s top receiver before it’s all said and done. Bateman has a complete skill set with plus ball skills, the ability to separate within his routes in addition to picking up yards after the catch. He has the look of a future number one target for a NFL offense.

Go Gophers!!

CBS chimes in:

Round 1 - Pick 18

Rashod Bateman WR
MINNESOTA • SOPH • 6'2" / 210 LBS

Bateman was the best WR on the Gophers last season, and he played alongside Tyler Johnson. The Titans could be looking for another outside threat with Corey Davis nearing the end of his rookie deal.

That would be interesting, one Fleck-coached WR moving out (if I’m reading that correctly), making way for another Fleck-coached WR to move in.

Remember when McShay had Mitch going in the first round. That’s how far off these things tend to be.

On that note, Trey Lance from Marshall, MN is projected as a first round pick. Not offered by Gophers, ended up at NDSU over N Illinois and Boise offers.

Pretty sure the offers he had at Boise and N Illinois were for another position too (I think linebacker). I thought I read that the only options he had to play QB at were FCS level. He had a great year last year as a redshirt freshman.

Lance had an incredible season last year. His brother is going to be a senior at Marshall next season and is starting to get some D1 offers to play WR.

Former Gopher commit Jalen Mayfield also showing up on a lot of these lists. PJ seems to have an eye for talent.
