I think FSU may have a harder time than most people think in attracting a coach. FSU facilities need a serious upgrade, plus there's a lot of competition within Florida for recruits -- U of Florida, Miami and now Central Florida are all after the same players. Take a look at Central Florida's new athletic center, not too many schools have a tubing river as part of their training facility.

FSU's location in Tallahassee doesn't help either. It's in the least cool city of all of FL's 7 FBS schools.

And the Gators are Florida's #1. Even in FSU's national championship year, the Gators were way more poplular all across the state.

He stick to the same script. Progam's a mess. Need to instill culture. Can't win until he has his guys. year zero. Don't have the caliber of players we need to be Elite. Not going to cut corners, going to do it the right way.....etc, etc. etc. when it makes sense, and when it doesn't. It's what worked at Western Michigan.....

Everything about this hire is very bizarre. I live near the ASU campus, it's not going over very well by most down here.

It's an AD that knew a guy and wanted him for the head football coach.

Same old story, every year.


Edwards will either win, or he'll lose and both he and the AD will lose their jobs over it.
 

Sources saying Taggart is meeting with FSU today. From Bobby to Jimbo to Willie, it doesn't get much more Florida than that.
 

It really does read like The Onion.

The New Leadership Model will allow for resource sharing and strategic planning between the football staff and administrators who are directly involved with the program. The administrative division will be primarily composed of Anderson, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director Jean Boyd and Senior Associate Athletics Director Scottie Graham. The sport division will operate with an experienced and senior football administrator, Senior Associate Athletic Director Tim Cassidy, helping to manage day-to-day operations, along with a variety of staffers responsible for player development, player personnel, and recruiting, among other areas.

Sun Devil Football's existing recruiting infrastructure will be upgraded through additional staff support and evaluation resources, by instilling a culture of accountability at all levels, and building long-term relationships in communities across the country to help ensure recruiting quality and consistency. Both the sport and administrative divisions will play key roles in student-athlete development.

The New Leadership Model affords coordinators and assistant coaches more flexibility in how they develop student-athletes on the field, and enables Sun Devil Football to build on the 'Championship Life' program already in place through the Office of Student-Athlete Development to better equip student-athletes with the tools and skills necessary to succeed in their respective future endeavors.



Every administrator knows innovation and efficiency come from scads of middle managers and committees.

The key will be documenting each and every action of the staff and players in excruciating detail. Perhaps they can follow the recent innovations in healthcare efficiency and cost control and require coaches and players to document each and every action they perform throughout day using an outdated and cumbersome cipher code on error-riddled Windows 95 software. For example: performing 10 deadlifts would be assigned a code of BH1450.3234. Taking a 3 minute bathroom break would be BM7843.34. Eating a pop tart YY3456.56 and a glass of milk MO5674.99. Only by making the coaches document what they are doing can the administrators better direct their daily activities and find better efficiency.

Herm will take play calling advice from a person most recently involved with selling ads to local tv stations. Recruiting will be based on availability of travel cost deals on Priceline.com, mid-week flights only, and recruits will eat at the student cafeteria.

If recruiting or on field performance suffers, outside consultants will be hired from PriceWaterhouseCooper to help streamline operations. They will advise Herm to RUTM.
 

He's from Florida, so can't imagine there is much of any way for Oregon to match FSU there.

Wonder if there's any chance in heck that Oregon could poach Peterson?? Washington seems to be above Oregon at this point. Maybe five years ago ...

Duluth station: "Source: Former UMD football coach Nielson expected to accept job at Kent State"

DULUTH, MN -
Former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football coach Bob Nielson is expected to officially accept a job at Division I Kent State, a source with knowledge of the situation told KBJR6 Sports on Monday.

Nielson, who just finished his second season at South Dakota, has not publicly commented on any potential offer or interest in the Kent State job.

After 10 seasons across two separate stints at UMD, which included NCAA Division II championships in 2008 and 2010, Nielson left UMD following the 2012 season to take a job with Western Illinois.

He was (100-26) overall with the Bulldogs, which included two (15-0) seasons and five Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) regular season championships.

His .793 winning percentage is still the best in program history.

The source said the deal hasn't been formally completed, but that step is expected sometime this week.
