Do you get my point now? I think you probably got it before. Anything else to add to the discussion? One more question for you. Are you a baseball? You state that you are one in your post on 12/3/14 at 9:13pm. Guess you forgot to type the word "fan" after baseball. See how annoying it is when someone nitpicks every single word of your post when they likely understood the point of your post.

If the Gophers fail to recruit any big boppers, yet are reluctant to manufacture some runs by playing small ball on occasion, they are not going to win as they have in the past in my opinion. It just leaves very little margin for error. I certainly hope I'm wrong about this because it looks to me like #14 has been unwilling to adjust his style of play since the arrival of the BBCOR bats.

Zero earned runs over a four game series is simply unbelievable. Is that some sort of record, seriously? The fact that nothing different was tried the entire weekend was remarkable to me and I usually have "Gopher goggles" on virtually every minute of each day.
 

I mentioned this kid in another thread, but the Texas trip proved that freshman Toby Hanson is someone to watch. Hit over .360 in his first college games against great pitching. Could be best freshman in B10 this year.
 


Gophers battle back from a 4-0 1st inning deficit to win game 2 over FGCU 5-4. Dalton Sawyer got the win on the mound and Ty McDevitt retired the final 7 batters for the save. The Gophers had 12 hits led by Matt Fiedler who hit the Gophers first homerun of the season and finished a double short of the cycle.
 

Gophers finish off the sweep with an 8-4 win. Jordan Smith led the offense with 4 hits and Matt Stemper hit a homerun. Tim Shannon picked up the win on the mound going 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs, Freshman Lucas Gilbreath pitched a perfect 7th followed by Freshman Reggie Meyer picking up 2 strikeouts in a perfect inning of work in his collegiate debut, Freshman Jeff Fasching started the 9th but struggled walking the first 2 guys and only recording 1 out while giving up a run, Matt Fiedler came in to the bases loaded jam got a strikeout for out number 2, walked in a runner, and then got a flyout to finish the game and earn a save.
 


Gophers face the Twins in an exhibition game Wednesday at 6CT and it will be broadcast on FSN+.
 

Gophers win game 1 against Creighton 8-6 in 12 innings. Gophers scored 5 in the top of the 12th and the big hit was a Michael Handel 3 run homerun. Creighton would answer with a 2 out 3 run homer in the bottom of the 12th but the Gophers would get the final out to finish the game off.
 

Gophers win the final game of the 2 game series 9-0 throwing a combined no-hitter. Dalton Sawyer started and went 7 innings striking out 5 walking 4 and hitting 2 batters, Tyler Hanson pitched the 8th and hit a batter, and Lance Thonvold threw a perfect 9th to finish the no-hitter. The Gophers pounded out 12 hits in the win led by 3 from Matt Fiedler and 2 each from Matt Halloran, Michael Handel, and Jordan Smith. Gophers move to 5-7 and have now won 5 in a row.
 




Gophers lose a tough one 9-7 today to James Madison. Gophers trailed 4-1 early and came back to tie it and eventually take a 7-4 lead scoring 3 in the top of the 9th. Unfortunately James Madison responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th including a 3 run walk-off homerun for the win.
 

Gophers get 14 hits and beat Monmouth this morning 8-4. They are scheduled to play VCU tomorrow night and Richmond Tuesday and Wednesday before opening up the conference season at Maryland next weekend.
 

Gophers lose to VCU 11-4 tonight. Not a good loss at all the Gophers were cruising along and up 4-0 on the strength of 2 run homeruns from Tony Skjefte and Alex Boxwell. That changed in the 7th inning when VCU was given life with their leadoff man reaching on an error and they took advantage of that life scoring 9 runs on 5 hits, 2 errors, and 3 walks in the 7th.
 

Gophers used a 7 run 4th and a 6 run 6th to build a 13-5 lead after 6 innings and held on for a 13-12 win over Richmond. Gophers hit 4 home runs in the win 1 each from Tony Skjefte, Tyler Hanson, Matt Halloran, and Matt Fiedler.
 



Gophers fall to 7-10 on the year with a 13-2 loss to Richmond today. Gopher pitching really struggled today giving up 13 runs on 13 hits while also walking 7 and hitting 1 batter. Gophers open up B1G play Friday at Maryland one of the preseason conference favorites.
 

Gophers fall to Maryland 5-1 in the conference opener. Maryland scored 5 runs with 2 outs in the 3rd and the Gophers could never battle back from that. Both teams ended up with 7 hits in the game and it was a very completive game aside from the one 2 out rally from the Terps. The Gophers were without CF Dan Motl who has missed the last few games with an injury and SS Michael Handel who left Wednesday's game with an injury. The Gophers and Terps will play game 2 in 30-45 minutes after snow postponed yesterdays game.
 

Gophers lose a slugfest 12-9 in game 2. Gophers jumped out to an early lead when Dan Motl returned from injury and hit a leadoff homerun. The Gophers would build a 7-0 lead after an inning and a half but Maryland would continue to chip away and eventually take a 10-8 lead after 4 and never look back. Gophers pitching really struggled in this one starter Dalton Sawyer only lasted 2.1 innings giving up 4 runs on 3 hits 2 walks and a hit batter, Lucas Gilbreath came in for him and went 1.1 innings giving up 6 runs on 5 hits and walking 3. The Gophers outhit Maryland 15-13 and the biggest difference in the game was Maryland taking advantage of some walks and scoring runs that way while Maryland pitching didn't give up many walks and when they did not many of them scored.
 

Maryland takes game 3 8-3. Gophers once again jumped out to an early lead with a 2 run homerun from Jordan Smith in the 1st and added a run in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead after 2.5 innings. Maryland would battle back getting 1 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, and then taking the lead for good with 3 in the 5th. Tim Shannon was very good the first 2 innings but got into trouble in the 4th and 5th with a couple walks a hit batter and some long at bats. Shannon ended up going 4.1 innings giving up 5 runs and 5 hits. I was most worried about the offense for the Gophers coming into this year but after a couple short starts and the bullpen struggling it might be the pitching that needs to pick it up now. Gophers need to start putting some wins together and are scheduled to host Augsburg in a midweek game and Northwestern next weekend.
 

Gophers win their home opener 8-3 over Northwestern today. Ben Meyer gave up a leadoff homerun and then didn't give up much of anything until a 2 run homerun in the 9th inning. Meyer picked up the win on the mound going 8.1 innings giving up 6 hits 3 runs walking 2 and striking out 5. Lance Thonvold came on and got the last 2 outs both via the strikeout. The Gophers scored 8 runs on 8 hits led by 2 hits and 4 RBIs from Tony Skjefte and 2 hits and 2 RBIs from Austin Athmann.
 

Gophers fall 2-1 in 13 innings today with Northwestern's winning run coming on an errant throw. Gopher bats went cold today only managing 5 hits in the game. Gophers had runners on 1st&3rd with 2 outs in the 12th and couldn't get a hit to win it and had the same situation in the 13th but couldn't get the hit to tie it up.

Terrible game, Northwestern is horrible. On a side note Nebraska has won the first two from Texas. With the B1G on an up swing, the Gophers are picking a bad time to be a below average baseball team.

Not a good loss at all need to get the win today just to get to 2-4 in conference. I wasn't worried about losing games to Houston or Texas or really even Maryland last week even though we should have won a couple of the games there but the close late losses to James Madison, VCU, Richmond, and now Northwestern are concerning. With how competitive the conference is looking you really can't afford to start off 1-5 in conference.
 

Gophers follow up the bad loss to Northwestern with an even worse loss today. Really pathetic and embarrassing game from the Gophers today. Northwestern scored in every inning except the 7th in the 19-7 win. Northwestern had a line of 19-20-0 while the Gophers were 7-9-3. This Gopher team better figure out things fast or they'll be buried at the bottom of the B1G probably need to win at least 2 out of 3 at Rutgers next weekend.
 




Weather forces a double header today in game 1 Rutgers wins 13-6. Rutgers had 13 runs on 11 hits and committed 1 error while the Gophers had 6 runs on 13 hits and committed 3 errors.
 

Gophers were up 11-3 after 4 1/2 but had to hang on to beat Rutgers 11-9 stranding Rutgers runners at 2nd&3rd in the 9th in game 2. Gophers got their 11 runs on 16 hits and committed 2 errors while Rutgers scored 9 runs on 11 hits and committed 1 error.
 

I keep telling you guys Anderson is set in his ways. He thinks he can recruit in a 150 mile area. The softball program is recruiting nationally and you can see the results. He's old and tired and trying to ride it out. He should have been dumped 3 years ago. Hell, the junior college down here in Panama City, Florida has 3-4 kids who could step right in and play for the Gophers. John won't get his tired
ass on an airplane and go and get players.

That wouldn't be as big of a problem if we were landing all the top instate kids like we used to but that isn't happening anymore. Now it is understandable that we lost a couple to SEC schools but to repeatedly lose kids to Nebraska has become a huge problem. There have also been a number of very good instate high school players that have gone to Iowa JUCO's the past few seasons and even if they were forced to because of academics we could still recruit them out of JUCO and haven't. People that I have talked to have said the biggest problem is Anderson and the staff aren't aggressive enough in recruiting in going after kids and offering early. There are a couple very good players in the recruiting class for next season and a couple freshmen are contributing decently this season but the issue is whether there is enough depth in the classes and can they all contribute.
